Agree with almost every bit of this. I'm not a Goodell fan by any stretch of the imagination. I also agree that the legal system is most likely on the players side... if it were to come to that. But as you mention in your last paragraph, legal rights aren't always fully taken advantage of. Behind the scenes deals go on all that time. And not just in football. I'm just saying that with all the ranting and raving Goodell has done over the years about "tarnishing the shield" I just can't see him not trying to do anything at all to Britt. Especially considering it was more than one incident. I just think Goodell has much too big of an ego to sit idly by.

There's another thread about this. If the players or NFLPA wanted to take this to court, they would probably win.

Locked out workers receive unemployment benefits.

Lockout Letter from NFL to NFLPA

    • Not allowed on the premises
    • No benefits
    • No monetary compensation
    • Contact with management not allowed

    Looks like unemployment to me.

He likes pot. So what. He's not beating strips, shooting at people, or causing harm to any other citizens.

If you drink alcohol, you have NO...I repeat...NO room to argue. Regardless of the legality.

The whole reason he's in trouble is because pot is ILLEGAL. Just because you don't think it should be illegal doesn't make it so.

So you enjoy getting high on alcohol yet choose to point the finger at those who choose to get high on a less toxic and less dangerous drug?

I'm not arguing the legality of it, I'm arguing the rationality of it. Let me clarify that statement.

With regard to the notion of players being held responsible for their conduct during the lockout, there are plenty of jobs and careers that serve as examples where conduct prior to employment, or re-employment are examined and held to standards. For example, for background checks.

That is not to say that the NFL contracts enforce background checks that would then allow for conduct during the lockout to be taken into consideration, but the concept is not unheard of. I wonder if Goodell would also like to institiute some form of background checks? It would not surprise me.

With my pro 420 statement, let me also clarify that resisting arrest and running from the cops is what makes Kenny's charges bogus IMO.

As far as punishment, I think Kenny has a good shot at missing no time if he argues his case the correct way.
