    Lol no it doesn't.

Idris is great in The Wire, but he hasn't done anything on the level of what Jamie did in Ray.

Since we're on the subject of t.v. shows, Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson from LOST trumps Stringer Bell all day.

I know you're not Hollywood's biggest fan, especially not one of Michael Bay... but isn't Evil Dead one of your favorite movies? I mean, I like a old school B horror like anyone else, but I'm going to lol if you don't think those movies are sillier than any Transformers movie.

Not the case, but whatever floats your boat. Dogs and cats know that Oscar was political due to the so called "snubs" of previous years. ******* overrated movie that was..

I like Terry O'Quinn and Emerson and I remember both from movies before they were on TV (especially O'Quinn who's been around for ages) but neither will ever land the role of DJango..

And yes, I sat through that mind-numbingly retarded POS Transformers turd that is in theaters now. God damn what a waste of 2.5 hours..
And if if you ain't already hip to the reasons why The Evil Dead is awesome and Transformers is uh... let's just say lame, I doubt my explaining it will change anything.

I like you Jackson. You got taste. But this statement is just..babytown frolics. And I love O'Quinn as a character actor.

You got taste too and your reviews are always a great read, but if you can't understand the brilliance behind the delivery of "Sorry I made your life so miserable." Then you haven't watched enough of the show.

You stopped watching it before Season 4 (which is the best one), and that's when Emerson really starts to shine... I think if you did see it, you would agree with me when I say O'Quinn/Emerson scenes > String.

I don't always take the Academy's word for it but Zel's Alonzo was well deserved.

Lol I'm assuming you have kids... because well, you hated the first two.

And just so there's no misunderstanding, remind me of this DJango you're referring to?

I liked Evil Dead. I'm not doubting you're a real fan of it and I ain't hatin', but too many kids who never seen it will praise it simply because they think it makes them look hip that they're jumping on the old school gorehound wagon. As I said, I ain't hatin' but from an unbiased POV, those movies are downright silly just like Transformers, it's mindless fun.

P.S - I plan on listening to those links you've provided in my inbox very soon, didn't want you think I was ignoring them since I asked and you made the effort of finding them for me.

I applaud the effort Jackson. But no man, living or dead, can convince me otherwise as to the greatness of Elba's performance as Bell. One of the rare powerhouse performances of modern drama, up there with Gandolfini's Soprano, McShane's Swearengin, and Cranston's Walt.

O'Quinn to me was a very good performance for a fairly good character, who I personally lost a lot of interest in as his arc came full circle. Early season Locke was a pretty great character though. The writers just had no idea what to do with him IMO.

I don't know guys... Nothing I'm seeing of Idris in The Wire is anything special either. Just him playing himself. He's another Denzel. He's cool, collect, but has a tough side that's appealing. Naturally.

I mean, it's fine. Just not anything challenging. As some form of an actor, it's hard to respect those that really just go in and are good at reading. Doesn't make them great actors.
Actually, the kid that plays Avon may be better than he is from what I've seen. (not much)

One thing I give Wood Harris (Avon) is that he is pretty average in literally everything else I've seen him in. I didn't think Avon was a powerhouse performance, and I always thought Elba's screen performance was nothing short of electric. He stole every scene he was in basically, just based on pure presence alone. You respected Stringer more than you ever did Avon (although Barksdale did have heart towards the end of the 3rd Season).

Here's the thing - you say that Elba is just being Elba, just as Denzel is just being Denzel. The difference is that Denzel over played Denzel for 10 years in staring roles. When has Elba EVER gotten the opportunity to be over-saturated? Don't answer - he hasn't.

There's nothing inherently wrong with Denzel. The guy is a good actor. The problem is when he was in so many films doing the same thing, the public gets catches on. It's one of the reason you don't see as much Denzel anymore too IMO.
