You're missing the point. It's not about WANTING to get rid of him. It's about being smart if keeping him rather than throwing tons of money his way.

And how much was Tiki Barber making at the time? I bet it wasn't top RB money. Hoping someone turns out like Tiki Barber isn't smart, nor logical.

Whoa! You're starting to catch on... we just had a break through.

Yes. This is kind of what I've been trying to say. SPEND THE MONEY ON OTHER POSITIONS so our RB is replaceable. This way, we don't have to tie up big money in 1 player that'll be irrelevant here in 3 seasons.

    So why are you arguing?

They didn't need to when we were a better rushing team those years than we are now?

    Because that makes sense...

    Excuses. The blocking was there.

Uh. No. You said "the TEAM's production"... therefore I said "what production?"... we were bounced out of the playoffs in rd 1. A game where CJ stood on the sidelines, mind you.

Why do you keep bending it to be "so you lose for having a good RB?... It makes you worse?"... No one is saying that.

But if you tie up major money in one position that isn't that important- yes- you're definitely hurting your team. No denying that.

Dude, really? EVERYONE said he looked slower last year. He CLEARLY was. He was getting chased down from bad angled by LBs. That didn't happen in 09. It happened often in '10.
He didn't look NEAR as fast in 2010. Everyone but you will say the same.

    1. Go to nfl.com.
    2. Go to Team stats.
    3. Go to rushing.
    4. Click through the years.
    5. Stop cherry picking stats.

I went by NFL.com's rushing leaders by season. Maybe they're wrong?...

And somehow we were still better overall with those guys than CJ. Amazing how it works, isn't it?

Those individual stats mean nothing to a team. You fail to get that though.

Just as it'd be nice if you stop saying one thing then claiming you're not...

You're BEGGING for a Barry Sanders situation. You love the individual stats from an RB that has no influence on a team's success.

It's not narrow sighted. Good RBs are a dime a dozen. You don't need a superstar. Who was the Packers' RB?... Does anyone even know? How about the team they beat in the SB?..Mendenhall? Mediocre.

You're missing the point again. I didn't say we could find another Chris Johnson. I said we could replace him.

Once again: WE DO NOT NEED A 2k BACK.

Though maybe, we could get a consistent RB that actually gains about 4 yards per carry in a legit way rather than buttering his numbers with a few long runs per game? Moving the chains... remember when we used to do that?

Cool. Again, don't really care about his personal stats... wins nothing but brownie points with his fans.

Just outta curiosity Deuce, what makes AP so much better than CJ? He's not anymore elusive, he fumbles frequently, his vision is no better, he's certainly not any faster and if CJ was #2 behind Foster in the broken tackles category that pretty much eliminates any argument for being the better power runner doesn't it? Im not saying he's any worse than CJ. But you're making it sound like their worlds apart.

And that lil crack about the oline doing its job correctly in the blocking department was laughable. Im not sure what team you watched last season but it wasn't the Titans. You just enjoy arguing. One of those fellows that loves to hear themselves speak. Nothing more.

AP also gets just as many runs for 0 or negative yards (and has his whole career, both when the Vikings o-line has been great and not-so-great), which invalidates one of Deuce's main arguments against CJ.

AP has also been less durable, at least in terms of getting minor knee injuries and often being questionable to play. He does a good job toughing it out, though.

One "advantage" is that AP's bigger, if you care about somewhat superficial stuff like that.

The advantage is that Adrian Peterson is a man while CJ is a boy.

He's the prototypical running back. CJ is a scat-back. That's the difference.

AP doesn't need great o-lines, he's good enough to gain yards various ways. CJ has his speed and that's it. AP is the full package.

    Lol!

Keep in mind he is under contract for 2 more years. He's not a free agent! The Titans can keep him here good and locked up for the next 4 years which is essentially the prime of his career if not all of it.

I wouldn't call quadrupling his base salary insulting, especially with the ability to make almost double Steven Jackson's money.

It's a win - win for everyone. He at least quadruples his money and more likely gets paid top 3-5 money in an avg year - if not more. If he's the exceptional back, he'll get paid like one. If he does that and gets the team where it wants to go, he'll get QB type money - which is what he wants.

Otherwise, he can hold out about half the season for 2 years, then get restricted, and then get franchised twice. The 4 years from now he could get what my offer would likely get him THIS season. Course, he might be done before that 4th year from now and never break 1.5mil in a season.

The Titans should NOT cave under the pressure and they SHOULD offer him a fair deal that's good for both sides. But they should protect themselves with guaranteed money spread out every year and manageable base salaries. Give him bonuses to earn what he wants.

The Titans are rebuilding anyway and have 2 RB's to carry the load should CJ holdout.

    He did in 2009.

He had only 1 fumble in 2010.

    CJ had 2.

You really don't have a clue do you?

CJ is just a scat back? All he has is speed?

    Yeah whatever.

CJ plays bigger than his height and weight indicate. Does he have Earl Campbell power? No, but who does.

CJ is a tough between the tackles runner who happens to be the fastest player in the NFL.

Teams don't gear up to stop the run against Peterson the way they do CJ.

CJ is the best back in the league and doesn't have the fumbling issues Peterson has had.

The only thing keeping CJ from being the best all around back in the NFL is his hands.

Saying CJ is just a speed back is being disingenuous and shows ignorance.

I could tackle CJ with one hand in the open field. Please, spare me the "he's a tough runner" nonsense.

Guy falls the moment someone touches his jersey... or foot.

CJ is just a speed back. It works for him for now. What other aspect does he have to his game? He's fairly shifty, but most speed backs are. His vision isn't so hot, his power is non existant, he doesn't get tough yards, doesn't hit holes hard, etc.

What he does do well: slide through a hole and run fast.

    That's it.

    And it works.

But don't try to paint it as anything else. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that cringes every time he gets hit, thinking he wont get back up.
