I'd say more those factories making those cars, and everything else are whats made China have the need for "Blue Sky days". In some areas of China, they only see blue in the sky 100 days of the year. So much smog over there it's nuts.

I'm sure you are right, but I was referring to VolTitans lack of comfort in the Focus.

He could just take the front seat out, and Shaq that car. Shaq has a Ferrari with no driver seat. Wish I had that kind of money to kill a Ferrari.

Hyundai's are very dependable, the Accent is affordable and gets excellent mileage...

Track record... Honda and Toyota. Personally, I am a Honda guy. I've owned two civics, an accord, and currently own an odyssey and a ridgeline. All were/are great vehicles. My wife bought a focus against my better judgement. It was a piece of crap and we traded it in within a year.

I've had a Focus for a couple years, ever since gas went up to 5 a gallon. Traded in the '01 F-150. Much better, and I can still fit a surprising amount of stuff in there. Just couldn't justify driving a full-size truck any longer, with the gas. I'll take the "coolness" hit.

My 2003 Focus has 119k on it and going strong. Needs an air tube, but I'll replace it when I pass out from the fumes.

My 1994 Ranger has 247k on it and going strong. Just moved a yard of topsoil yesterday. The truck is a beast.

My 2005 SporTrac has 17k on it and going strong. Take it out of the garage occasionally for family outings, moving kids back and forth ect. Running like brand new.

My 1997 Mustang Coupe GT has 96k on it, but I just got it last week. Seems to be a good car or I would not have bought it. Did have too replace the licesne plate illumination bulbs and I need to adjust the headlites - such is the way it goes with used cars.

Bottom line, change the oil and do the small things and I have had no problems with Fords. The Ranger did need a new transmission about 90k ago, but it is a French unit so I am not suprised that it surrendered before the Engine was ready to quite. Transmission is the only major failure truck has ever had. Of course many parts that wear down have had to be replaced over the 17 years I have had the truck, but that is normal. Alternator went last fall. I might add that both the transmission and the alternator were swapped before complete failure. I drove the truck into the transmission shop for the rebuilt transmission to be installed and I drove the truck to the parts shop to get the alternator. Other than that sparkplugs is the most work ever done on the engine and its the 2.3L 4 banger.

The Focus is completely rebuilt and designed. Has nothing to do with the one from last year and has very good reviews, but felt very cramped to me, especially the passenger seat. Not near the leg room of the Elantra. I haven't really looked at Sentra or Versa because basically I find them boring, but hell, it's just a car.

Mine is an '07. I am 6'3 285, so I know about the legroom thing, It's fine for one or 2 people, outside of that, it is cramped.I was looking purely at gas mileage and price. It has both of those things, I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy. It's not quite a chick magnet, that is certain, but it is a newish car that gets you from A to B. My sister has a '10 and it is nice as well.

They european Focus is a well-driving car. The US version might be softer on the suspension, more "comfortable". If you've got something like the Focus C-Max over there, it might be an alternative, it's a bit bigger but build on the same platform.

I've got a small 3-cylinder car myself, it's rated to 54 mpg, but I'm around 42 mpg. My right foot is a bit too heavy for economy driving. I'm 6'4" and 200 lbs, but the car is a bit higher than the competitors, so sit a bit more upright and has enough legroom.

You might seriously consider a diesel for commuting. Lower rpms and more torque helps lowering the noise - and they have better mileage.
