Yeah, L.A. Noire looks really sweet. I'm just worried that the game play will be so different from what's out there that it will get rejected.

This looks and sounds great. But I wonder that the gameplay may be extremely boring. I just can't get in to watching movies with a controller but calling it a game. Basically in 15 minutes you got to walk with a flashlight, drive a car, and fist fight a guy. All which was scripted.

I've got hopes, but for this one to turn out a snoozer wouldn't surprise me.

Nothing I've read has brought me to think that anything you just said would be true. The evidence finding seems to be extremely intuitive and the game supposedly doesn't hold your hand if you don't want it to. If anything, the biggest complaint I've read is that the shooting sequences feel a little dry compared to how brilliant and in-depth the investigative aspects are - i.e. identical with what you find in GTA IV and RDR.

But we'll just have to play it and see, won't we?

The first 2 reviews for Rockstar’s L.A. Noire have been released a little early. The first comes from The Guardian, who reviewed the PS3 version of the game. The second is from the UK Official Xbox Magizine. The Guardian awarded the game a 5 out of 5. Here’s a brief excerpt:

“In the past, games with such overwhelming ambitions have floundered on odd, usually peripheral, aspects that jarred – such as unrealistic animation (and especially facial animation), clunky dialogue, poor virtual camerawork or facile characterisation. LA Noire is the first game to lack any such element which naggingly reminds you that you’re playing a video game, rather than strolling through a film or TV series.”

A second review has been spotted in the Official Xbox Magazine UK. A lucky reader posted the score on GameFAQs. L.A. Noire received a perfect 10/10. The review’s closing comment can be seen below.

“If you were expecting L.A Noire to be a reskinned GTA then you will be left severely disappointed. Many times we hear, “Who will be gaming’s Citizen Kane?”. Personally, I don’t have the gall to say L.A Noire is that type of game. But it is a game that will revolutionize the gaming industry as we know it. Never in my 20 year history of gaming have I encountered a game with as much finesse, intelligence, and attention to detail as L.A Noire, and for that I applaud L.A Noire. A game which has the nerve to do so much, in an industry where a seldom few are.”

Nothing you've read? I'm just judging by the gameplay videos... it looks like it could get pretty dry once the "new" wears off after the first hour or so.

I hope it gets more entertaining than the first 15 mins, is all.

I just don't want it to be a 30 hr long movie, basically.

Well, I'm reading things from people who have played the actual game. Not, you know, seen several 1-2 minute trailers like you or me.

Yeah. I can't take reviews for anything of worth though. Too much hype comes in to play. See: Mass Effect, GTA IV, HALO (anything after 1).

    ^Someone is angry much.

Since my friend in NY worked on it and I have followed it's development the last several years. The game is like a polished mix of Shenmue snd Hotel Dusk.
    maybe R* best game yet.
