Dude. If you read my post. YOu see im not putting the guys down. I didn't say they don't possess the skill to be starters. Im saying they haven't proved that they could. Yes they haven't been given the opportunity to do so, which is stupid. Yet alot of you are so high on these guys who haven't been given a shot as if they are already proven players.

Ive already heard the stories about him in Pitts. He had a bad 09 season here but last season he was very good for us. He did not drop more balls than a wr usually does. And actually was very reliable for us on 3rd down. Especially on out routes. Nates best position is in the slot, but you can't say he isn't playing well enough to be our number 2.

I have no respect for a post that dismisses a players lack of production by simply saying it was Fisher's fault or that Fisher is in competent. That's just dumb.

To start you in no way are justifying why this guy even deserves to play and nobody, i mean nobody addressees the issue that i did about younger less experienced players moving ahead of him on the depth chart.

Jeff Fisher did not micromanage WRs. Really guys just horrible commentary all the way around.

As for Hawkins getting his shot? He started the last preseason game and didn't do a thing. He was totally unproductive all preseason when he could have played well enough to demand more playing time.

3 catches for 14 yards enough to indicate he deserves to play? We had guys who were cut who out produced him. Mariani a rookie had 7 catches for 131 yards.

3 catches in preseason for 4.7 yards a catch screams more playing time? Please respond to that with something other than lame theory.

That's it? Perhaps he just doesn't get open enough to get the ball thrown to him.

What about 3 catches for 14 yards in the preseason that would compel you as coach to say DAMN THIS KID NEEDS MORE PLAYING TIME!!! Explain.

I could come up with the same lame response regarding Paul Williams or Chris Davis. Awesome stud players just not given a chance. Fisher's fault! Same for any scrub WR who has come down the pike or for that matter any scrub player at any position.

Why would D-Will a green rookie pass Hawkins on the depth chart when Hawkins was in his third season in that offense? More talent? Fisher hates Cal players?

I'm sure most here want D-Will as a starter soon, and I don't recall anyone wanting Hawk to crack the starting line up.

Nate had a good season, but he hurts just as much as he helps. There's nothing wrong with both Hawk and Mariani (although I think Mariani will beat out Hawk) getting more chances to to earn more playing time.

    I agree.

I do think it's fair to give the roster a post Fisher re-evalaution though.
He made some player decisions that hard to understand. I welcome a second opinion on some of our 'cans'.

It may just be the usual off season spiel but this thread is fueled by Munchak talking up Hawkins.

No one has randomly started raving about Hawkins.

He's in a contract year and costing us 300k. If he doesn't do something soon he's toast.

However with no new WR brought in and pre season doubtful , Hawkins likely sees a full season to either fight his way off the bench or prove you right.

Unless some later UDFA really comes out of no where there is no reason Hawk won't be on the team. It just comes down to who gets on the field and who doesn't.

The one point maybe made earlier and I missed it but needs to be said is that Hawk offered little as a STs player and for whatever reason couldn't contribute in the return game. For that reason he wasn't even worthy of being active on game day and rightfully so. People can lay his lack of playing time on Fisher but I say it is Hawkins inability to learn his responsibilities and be able to contribute on STs. The Titans drafted two WRs year before last that could help in one or both of those areas. They did that for a reason.

If you're like me, and eat up anything and everything Tennessee Titans, then you know Marc Mariani is on his way. We've seen this both in training camp and in the preseason. How well he'll do vs starting nicklebacks is yet to be seen, but based off film, that shouldn't be a problem. He's explosive, and runs crisp patterns. He adjusts routes to create space. To many here that's translated to him eventually being a solid WR. He did have perhaps the greatest catch ever in his college days, so we know he's got hands. It's just a matter of getting him on the field as a wideout.

I'm hoping both Mariani and Hawkins step it up next year. I think both are just explosive as Nate if not moreso. What matter is can they get open and catch with consistency.

Besides Britt and D-Will, I'd like to see all the WR's truly fight it out for playing time. We've still got 4 pre-season games (thank God...Goodell what were you thinking??) and a long season with a new QB on the roster. I think it's time we shook things up personnel wise and see which players rise to the top.
