Just wanted to write put in my 2 cents about the Titans pick at #8 overall.

I'm starting to like the pick. I personally would've gone Fairley at #8, but if this QB gamble works out we could be in good shape.

We've got quite a few picks in the next 4 rounds. We've got a couple of compensatory picks to play with and could even miss on a few picks and come out in good shape.

We need a SS who can play right away. We don't know if we have one on the roster, but we need a Hope replacement yesterday. We could even pick up 2 SS prospects and have other picks to use on other defensive needs.

There's gonna be some decent DT's and DE's left in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. If we went DT, DE, or SS in the 2nd we'd still be in good shape for the rest of the draft.

Rennie Curran might be a long term replacement for Witherspoon. Nobody knows how good he'll be, but if he can play decent in zone coverage we could have a complete young linebacking core that's competent. Not great, but serviceable enough to compete with anybody.

Drafting a SS, or 2, and exploring our current SS options (Johnson, Rolle, Fuller, etc) could allow us to do a lot of different things on defense out of our current 4-3. If we have a SS who can stick with a WR in man coverage we could do some interesting blitz packages. You'd just have to teach your corners to play conservative when it's man no help coverage.

SS would be my 1st priority.
DT would be my 2nd priority.
LB would be my 3rd prioritiy.

Here's why I like Locker...(assuming all other team needs are met in way explained above)...

    He's mobile.
It allows us to come up with better plays to get CJ in space. Rollout screens, option plays, play action, and mis-direction plays are more effective when your QB is mobile.

    He seems durable.
To make the playoffs we don't need a QB to be Super Man with the weapons we have. We need a consistent QB who can make plays when needed. Locker could provide more reliability at QB and help us get into the playoffs where team's true colors seem to come out.

    Palmer is our OC.
Palmer is known for developing QB's. He's coached in a lot of different leagues with different playbooks and cultures. He'll be good for developing Locker (sure Palmer helped pick him out), and he'll be able to put him in good situations as far as play calling. We've got the fastest RB in the league and one of the most explosive WR's in football (if not in jail). He should have more open receivers and easier reads than in the Fisher era. He's athletic enough to make something happen when those reads aren't there.

That's my analysis on why Locker could be a nice 1st pick.

I like the Locker pick alot more than that Palmer pick up. He helped a couple QB's but he couldn't do jack for Carr.

I thought Palmer had a lot of crappy QBs under his belt that he did nothing for?

Wasn't he the Tim Couch QB coach?

He's like 50/50. He was Couch's head coach and David Carr's offensive coordinator, but he also got Eli Manning and Mark Brunell to develop when he was their QB coach.

The other two are not so great either.
Brunell had a long career... I guess he is okay. Was a husky also I believe?
    Eli is okay.

Yeah, but three out of the four were expansion teams. Tim Couch and David Carr were doomed from the beginning. Brunell at least sat for a couple years before being traded to Jacksonville.

I remember Palmer joking during his introductory presser, "I'm never taking another expansion job again."

Eli developed? For what... 1 game where he threw some fluke pass?

That's not a very good resume. Yikes... when your best QB is Mark Brunell. Locker might not stand a chance...

Eli isn't great, but his QB rating in 2007 was 73.9 and has been over 85 ever since. Palmer was hired in January of 2007. Two out of the three years with Palmer were Eli's best.

Locker was a shock for me at #8. I had other guys rated higher. His inaccuracy problems bother me since throwing completions is the number one thing a QB is suppose to do. In every other way he looks good.

In my plan I had the Titans picking Kaepernick, Dalton or Ponder and then getting a veteran and training one of them for awhile. Now I wonder what the Titans plan is with Locker. Does anyone think that the Titans will try to play him in his frist year or are we still looking for a veteran?
