If you think the 2nd round selections are bad, don't look at the 3rd round selections...

yeah i was being sarcastic but of course yeah wycheck best te in franchise recent history, besides bennett dont forget about justin mccareins ha, he had a few breakout games here and there and it seemed like j-mac and bennett really shined when billy volek (the best backup in the league during his prime) would come in and start - i was there in oakland, ca when the raiders had kerry collins (go figure) and titans started volek in 2004 ... both collins n volek threw for like 400 yards each - and i think bennett had like 300 of the yardage heh

Man, makes me miss those glory days when we were a elite foundation in the AFC. And speaking of McNair and Bennett, what a great teammate McNair was. I remember when Bennett dropped that 4th down pass against the Pats in the playoffs, McNair was the only one that went over to comfort him, and he said something like "you're still one of my go to receivers" or something along the lines of that.

yeah i could talk mcnair all day - really a good guy and class act, just a shame what he got involved in at the end their totally unexpected but figuring out that part of his life, he really was an unsung hero and not totally given his just due. people around the league always commended him on just how tough he was and how much of a warrior he was and thats what i always remember about him - air "mac" nair aka air 9

What he said. Odom has been a solid player for the Bengals also. I wouldn't say our 2nd rounders are HORRIBLE, but they're nothing amazing either (besides Rolle and Roos).

Actually the 2nd round picks were darn good since the team moved to Nashville. At least three guys on the list, Calico, Odom and LaBoy were struck by injury which limited them. Tank Williams was a starter from day one and was a good player in our system at the time until he was slowed by injury. Dyson was a solid #2 CB and Rolle was a pro bowler. Even Thornton was probably a little better than average.

I'm guessing the league average on 2nd round picks isn't any better and although you always like to at least get a starter with a 2nd round pick I wouldn't doubt the league average is close to 50%. When you have pro-bowl guys like Rolle and Roos (gettng a real good LT in the 2nd is huge) you are really beating the odds.

Now I do think people over value draft picks in general because of the hype. MR has just about a perfect record getting guys in the 1st round. So it makes perfect sense to me trade our 2nd and 3rd round picks to mvoe up into the 1st anytime we can do so. I'm also an advocate of trading 2nd round picks or later for proven players at positions of need and wish we were more active in bringing in RFAs. The bottom line is when you run the numbers and look at the draft historically the probabilities make sense especially when you get out of the 1st round. Since we need a QB even the 1st round picks can be hard to pick for that position.

    2006 - Daryn Colledge
    Greg Jennings
    2005 - Nick Collins
    2004 - NO 2nd Rounder
    2003 - NO 2nd Rounder
    2002 - NO 2nd Rounder
    2001 - Robert Gerguson
    2000 - Chad Clifton

    Colts:
    2010 - Pat Angerer
    2009 - Fili Moala
    2008 - Mike Pollak
    2007 - Tony Ugoh
    2006 - Tim Jennings
    2005 - Kelvin Hayden
    2004 - Bob Sanders
    2003 - Michael Doss

    2009 - Pat White
    Sean Smith
    2008 - Phillip Merling
    Chad Henne
    2007 - John Beck
    Samson Satele
    2006 - No 2nd
    2005 - Matt Roth

Clearly pass interference and I consider this just as big of a blown call as the missed delay of game in the Ravens playoff game. We would've won the Super Bowl both times if the refs could make simple calls.

Yea, Bennett still should've caught that pass, but he was clearly interfered with.
