Bulger is worse than Fitz. It's not like Fitz or Palmer is going to be the future just a fill in for a couple years.

:spit: :eh?: You mean the TE version right? Must.

I would just like to say, Alex Smith is more than welcomed in this thread. And I'd also like to point out, I knew all along Alex Smith was far from being an NFL QB. Knew that 6 years ago. But then again, I also thought Vince Young would have a ring by now. My bad. Blame it on the Fish.

I said a 1st round QB, because I want a QB that is going to be someone we can build around, and maybe Locker/Newton/Gabbert isn't that, but at least they could be. We know Orton, Fitz, Palmer, Hasselback, McNabb, and Bulger are short term fixes.

If we could magically get Orton for a 3rd round pick this is a no brainer. He is only 28 years old so he can be around for a while. He was on pace last year to easily throw for 4000+ yards before they decided to give Tebow some games. He had a 87 QB rating for two years in a row and made Brandon Lloyd into a super stud (77-1448-11TDs). The Broncos had the 26th rushing team in the league. Putting Jones and Britt out there together along with CJ and Cook would be an offensive show. Orton is more proven than Kolb and IMO the Broncos have other issues to fix besides letting this guy go but if they are dumb enough to trade him I'd be all over it.

In reality we would probably have to give up our 2nd rounder for Orton but I'd still make that deal. Number one there is a high probablility no QB we draft would be as good (at least 50% or more for a 2nd rounder) and even if they developed it would take a few years to get to his level. At his age we could be set for a few years and if we eventually developed a better QB all the better. He comes in from day one and produces at a high level.

Kolb might be a comparable option and a 2nd rounder for him wouldn't be a bad move either for the same reasons noted above.

One option missing is signing Alex Smith if he doesn't stay in SanFran. He is only 26, had a 82 QB rating the last two years (his best years) and may still have some upside. If we sign him as a FA he costs us nothing allowing us to use our 2nd rounder for a QB who could become the starter or his backup. He can play at a decent level right away as well. In a stable system with good coaching he might be a decent QB worth considering. I'd still consider drafting a QB in the 2nd with him because he still hasn't proven himself and a guy like Kap might be able to surpass him at some point.

I wouldn't be totally against getting McNabb as a short term solution as we develop a guy like Kap but he isn't a FA. We would have to compensate the Skins with a draft pick. I believe has a 8 mil bonus due I would think the Skins would let him go for a later pick instead of keeping him and paying him but some team like the Vikes may also bid for his services.

Depending on who's available. But if AJ is gone, Julio would be who I would want (in my scenario).

    He re-signed with the 49ers.

edit: I guess he didn't sign it, they just offered it. He should def be added, but I can't add him to the poll.

I'm not so high on Orton. Sure he had some solid stats, but was it just McDaniels system?

Anytime a player has 3,000 yards and 23 TDs in 13 games playing for the Bills is a solid player in my book. He's 28, but has only had 3 years of playing alot. He didn't really have any targets, but made an average WR a good WR (Stevie Johnson). I'll admit he's nothing amazing, but there's not alot of great options.

Not a huge fan of Bulger. He put up good stats, but he also had Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Marshall Faulk/Steven Jackson in his offense. Sure he's a vet and known as a smart player, but he's also 34. I wouldn't mind him as a 1, maybe 2 year fix.

Wouldn't mind McNabb. Sure he was below average last year, he's also 34. 1-2 year fix at max. McNabb would be a good tutor for Locker, they have similar playing styles.

I don't know what our FO will do, I just hope they make the right decision.

If we could get Orton for a 2nd, we would have a serviceable QB. Take Fairley first and then trade back into the second to get Ponder, Dalton or Stanzi (possibly Mallett)....

...Then you wake up and realize it's not possible.
