Newton had numbered plays.. he could literally go into the huddle and say "5", and that was a play. My junior-high school play calling was more advanced that that. He was very impressive for the rest of the interview, but that one scene really bugged me. I just think it will be hard for him to adjust to the NFL play calling, with the 1000s of plays that NFL OCs have. I hope he proves me wrong, but I just don't see it.

You are operating under the assumption that it is IMPERATIVE/DIRE that we draft a QB out of this class. That assumption is not true. A serviceable vet QB will be more beneficial than any of these rookie QB (save maybe Gabbert)- HANDS DOWN for the next 2-3 years.

This isn't just the opinion of board members- listen to Sirius NFL. Rich Gannon, Jim Miller, Adam Schein, Saleh have ALL said the same thing.

You speak of risk and chance not picking Locker at #8. The experts on Sirius all say Locker isn't worth a #8. His accuracy is a concern. His senior bowl performance is a concern. He simply wasn't as dominant physical player or cerebral player as a #8 overall player should be. There are other positions of need that meet "Best Player Available" on the board at #8.

If we're going to let our need dictate our pick, then simply trade down a few spots, pick up BPA or Locker and then use the extra pick acquired to trade back into the late 1st to pick up another QB. I'd prefer we skip QB all together this year, but I wouldn't be upset to get a lower rated player like Locker/ Dalton, Kaepernick etc in the late first or 2nd round- WHERE THEY should be taken.

I'm not operating under any assumption. Please read my posts again. Apologies if I was unclear.

I don't really have an opinion of what position the Titans should draft. At no point did I advocate for a QB at #8 or any other position. I'm just trying to shed some light on what the Titans may be thinking and why I don't believe it would be a reach if they decide they want a QB at #8.

I WISH when I played we had a play called "5" or "36". Instead we had plays that required listening, I hated that LOL. I wanted to kneel down with my head down sucking wind, but no, I had to pick my head up so I wouldn't miss my piece of the play that took longer to call, than it did to run.

Ok- my bad. I misunderstood what you were saying. Honestly I think (at least hope) all this Locker talk at #8 is a smokescreen to keep another team from leap frogging us at #8 to pick up somebody like Julio Jones, Fairley or Quinn.

So you're saying these "experts" know more than NFL scouts? I forgot who posted it but one "rogue scout" said Locker has all the tools that Favre did going into the draft and the same situation. So everyone has a different opinion and if the Titans think that Locker will be a great QB then draft him at #8. I don't care if McShay, Kiper, or anyone else think it's a reach, no such thing as a reach when drafting a QB that you think will be great.

Now I'm all for trading down to #14. Because if the Skins pass on a QB then we'll be the next team up with a QB need so why not try and grab some extra picks, that works for me but you just never know.

Also how can you say a vet will be "hands down" better than anyone in this draft? We may not even have a season so does it make sense for us to pass on a QB we like hoping we sign someone?

First, the season WILL occur. Book it- it will happen. ZERO chance that games aren't played.

Second, no rookie can come in and be ready game one the same way that a vet with game experience can be. And in particular- I don't see any QB in this class that would be game one ready. (Maybe Newton, it they are running option plays. Gabbert maybe by game 5 or 6.)

Third, my point was that it isn't just people on this board that are giving a negative opinion on the "1st round-ability" of this QB class. There are ex-NFL QB's that are giving their expert opinion. I'll be the first to admit that there are some experts that support that the QB's are 1st round worthy. I was just pointing out that it isn't just the opinion of people on this board.

And finally- I don't care if the Titans scouts think Locker is worth the #8 pick. The titans thought Vince was worth the #3, Pac the #6 and Chris Henry worth a second rounder. The Titans FO is not INFALLIBLE at assessing talent. They blow it sometimes. So folks have every right to be concerned with any pick they might make and to suggest that just because the FO deems Locker worthy of the #8 overall pick then it must be OK is ludicrous. They make mistakes.
