If you're implying that I go out of my way to knock on classics, that certainty isn't the case. There are plenty of classics many consider a masterpiece that I think do deserve the praise...Shawshank, American History X, Saving Private Ryan, just to name a few, are some of my favorites.

I'm just not gonna nut in my pants simply because of its name/because it was made in the 80's.

Just saw City of God, and I hate to do this but I have to say I was let down to be honest...and this is coming from someone who thought it was a near flawless movie, so you're probably wondering how in the world could I be let down by a movie that I thought was near perfect...

Simple. I wasn't blown away. And yes, I do recognize City of God as more of a film than movie and I have nothing against that. See technically, it was almost perfect, because the film succeeded in every aspect of film making, but when 9 out of 10 people tell me it'll blow me away and I'm not blown away, then I have no choice but to say I was let down. Good, but nothing memorable for me. And plus, I've seen plenty of Alejandro González Iñárritu films, so that style is nothing new to me.

I think I'm gonna give it another view though, maybe I'll like it more the second time...

Gonna watch one of these within the next hour, based on movies I like, two of imdb's recommendations for me are "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

    Which one do y'all prefer?

Also, I haven't had a dose of Liam Neeson in some time, so this movie "Unknown" looks intriguing, I hope it's miles better than "Taken", which I thought was incredibly bland with the most laughable cliches you could think of, and really just felt like a pointless movie. Even the action scenes bored me.

However I'm a big Liam fan, so is "Unknown" worth a view?

Oh dear God. If you didn't like Taken, you will despise Unknown. Stay far, far away.

I'm a big fan of Taken. Bland??? Neeson kicks @ss the entire movie. It was the most hardcore PG-13 movie I've ever seen.

I hated Unknown. Can't imagine what you'd think of it if you hated Taken.

Heh, Taken was ok, I didn't hate it especially when I didn't have high expectations going into the movie. Yes, it was bland, a lot of action doesn't automatically mean it wasn't. It was a unoriginal shoot 'em up video game pretending to be a movie. I felt like I was watching a 70 year old Matt Damon, broke and desperate, trying to make a comeback.

When the daughter's stepfather bought her a pony at the beginning of the movie, my expectations dropped even more.

Taken is much better than Unknown, but any movie with Neeson kicking is gold in my book.

That's the thing... he doesn't kick @ss in Unknown. He sucks. He kills like two guys the whole movie. Lame.

About to see Platoon for the first time, and hear it's one of the greatest war movies. On the level of Saving Private Ryan?

Platoon blows so hard. It is one of the most horrendous and exploitative films I've ever had the misfortune of watching. Typical Oliver Stone. He is the hard left filmmaker who doesn't see the big picture and refuses to meet anyone in the middle. All of his movies are shocking for the sake of being shocking and hold no value, whatsoever. To say that Platoon is on the same playing field as Saving Private Ryan is a joke.

Oh and if you like war movies, watch "Paths of Glory" or "The Thin Red Line"...those are good. "Apocalypse Now" is a must see as well.
