A 17th pick on Kaepernick? Oh my god! Mallett would be the guy to take in that scenario. Mallett over Kaepernick ant day.

I actually have Mallet and Kaepernick flipping back and forth as the third QB drafted. All reports are saying that Kaepernick is going to go in the late first to early second round and I am a firm believer that you don't wait for your franchise signal caller to fall to you.

The only reason that a lot fans don't have Kaepernick as the number one guy is because he went Nevada instead of a school like Texas or Auburn. (Minus Duece who will just say he sucks for whatever reason.) When looking at a QB I try and rank them in four categories, intangibles (leadership, character, intelligence), tangibles (athleticism, arm strength, health), statistical (Did he put up numbers and victory for his team), and finally mechanical. IMO Kaepernick ranks very highly in all categories with the exception of mechanics. I think every Titans fan would like a copy of Young that won't sabotage himself and his team at every opportunity and Kaepernick is that player.

Mallet is my second favorite QB in this class and I would be 100% behind Tennessee taking him provided that they research extensively into his reported issues and if they do take him I am sure that that will be the case.

Based on reports I think we will see Tennessee take either Locker or Kaepernick before the day is out.

I like Kaepernick too. He reminds me of what VY should have been. Looks like he's VY with a better arm and throwing motion, and has the maturity and leadership of McNar (I also think he got a wonderlic score in the 30's). That being said, I still like Mallett the best of this class because he's so accurate and has an absolute cannon. I do not think that the Titans will take him, even if he's there at 39 because Munch has said in almost every interview I've heard with him that he likes mobile QBs and Mallett isn't very mobile.

I like going DT first round and QB second or later. The reason being is if you go QB first round, and it doesn't work out, you might have to stick with that guy for longer than you want to because you will have so much money tied up in that one guy and spent such a high pick on him (ie Alex Smith, VY).

Also, if we take a 2nd rounder and he doesn't pan out (like the Panthers with Clausen last year) and we end up with another top 10 pick next year, there are 3 QBs in next years draft that I believe will all be better pros than any QB in this years class (Luck, Barkley, L. Jones). I know you're not supposed think ahead to next years draft but with the talent coming out then, it's hard not to.

I'd go with first drafting a dominate DT vs. first drafting an average QB. The difference between these "tier 1" QB's and tier 2 QB's is barely anything, the difference after Fairley and Dareus is drastic.

A rookie DT picked in the top 10 is also way more likely to be an immediate starter, a QB drafted at that same spot may end up sitting for months, contributing nothing.

Fun Fact: Two of the highest rate of busts in the top ten picks are QB and DT.

I would LOVE this trade. I think Bowers is going to drop because of that knee.

    Id take
    1A. DE D Bowers
    1B. QB C. Kaepernick
    2. DT Paea
    3. LB Foster
    4. OG Moffit
    4C. LB Nate Irving
    5. S Ahmad Black

I think we would be the clear winners of the draft and I don't think this scenario is unrealistic. Bowers sliding w the knee, and Black sliding because of the lack of height AND speed

I'm amazed at the amount of love Kaepernick is getting on this board while Newton is dragged through the coals, they're essentially the same type of players...

Finnebosch and any other Kap fans...

Why do YOU think Kap is a first round pick?

He didn't play in a top conference, he has as much if a mechanics issue as Locker though in a different way, didn't play well against top competition, should have put up eye popping stats like Newton but didn't, and qb's with excellent stats coming from super gimmicky offenses tend not to translate well. That's the against argument.

The for argument is that he has a canon, decently accurate, has a high enough wonderlic, and appears to be a decent solid kid.

In a normal draft, i think he gets drafted in rnd 5-7 or gets signed as an undrafted free agent. But with no free agency before the draft and a lot of qb desperate teams, I could see someone gamble on him in the 3rd or 4th. I still wouldn't look at him til the 5th at the earliest.

And what reports have as a 1st rnd pick? Everyone agrees Mallett has top 10 talent but is not rated that highly dye to other concerns.
