I'm down to two quarterbacks. Mallet and Stanzi. Thoughts?

    Chill tough guy.

Comparing a QB from Iowa many consider to be a mid to late round prospect to Tom Brady is asinine. The Patriots lucked into tom Brady you don't go into a draft going well this guy could be the next Tom.

    Clutch?

He beat 2 decent teams the entire year(PSU,MSU).

Closest win they had was by 5 points against Indiana next closest was 10 vs. Michigan. Did he make a clutch play in either of those games late to pull ahead? No.

I watched Stanzi enough being a Penn State Fan and getting the Big Ten Network to know this kid isn't clutch. 2009 I might agree 2010 meh.

5 losses all by 7 points or less. Where is this clutch QB pulling out tight wins or closing the game out?

    Lost to Arizona by 7
    Lost to Wisconsin by 1
    Lost to Northwestern by 4
Lost to Ohio State by 3
    Lost to Minnesota by 3

Oh and he was awesome at the Insight Bowl against a weak defense. He's lucky they won because he was awfully bad when a clutch QB would have showed up ready for the biggest game of his season.

    11/21 200 yds 0 td 2 int

Cam Newton is what you call clutch Ricky Stanzi is not clutch.

You don't look at prospects and say he's the next Brady. Brady was drafted in the 7th round...he was hardly a sleeper. The reason why he became what he is today is because he sat on the bench, learned the playbook, and hit the gym. This thread is about two QB's some guy likes and would draft early. Drafting Stanzi early and expecting him to start is not going to happen because he doesn't have the skills. Also how is Stanzi clutch? I've seen quite a few Iowa games and I just browsed through game results over the past couple years and I've never been really impressed with him. I think he can be a good QB but back up more likely.

I understand the hate on Mallett for his off the field issues but the way he talks? Really? Has anyone heard CJ, Britt, or any other guy who "talks gangster"? I don't care if he sounds like eminem as long as he gets the job done. If he can improve his pocket presence and play a little smarter he can be a really good QB in the NFL. I will be happy to take him or Locker if it's at 8, 2nd round, trade, etc.

Mallett is the guy I'd pull the trigger on at #8 and Kap is a guy I'd trade into the 1st to get if Mallett is already gone. Stanzi is a guy who after all the good QBs are gone you say "oh crap, we forgot to get a QB" you draft.

Now obviously there is always a chance Stanzi could out play a bunch of these guys now ahead of him on draft boards. But I in no way see anyone targeting the guy. Of course we don't know how he did in his workouts for teams so who knows. He seems like a Brady kind of guy in that some team not really needing a quick fix at QB might grab him as a guy to develop. But for all I know the Vikings or someone really likes him and pulls the trigger in the 2nd round on him.

I don't know how I found this, but it says exactly what I've been saying.

Banking on Stanzi "filling out" like Brady seems risky. At best, he'll end up like Matt Cassel.

Uhhh... So comparing a projected 3rd or 4th rounder to be capable of being the next Tom Brady (drafted in the SEVENTH round) is asinine??.... uhhh.... ok. If you say so.

And against MSU, he threw the TD pass with :00 seconds left on the clock. Let's not pretend you've watched any games he played in though.

His stats increase greatly in the 4th quarter. His accuracy goes up largely, his TD numbers go up, etc... how is that not clutch?

    Uh.... ok?

Showing what a TEAM lost by is about as irrelevant as it gets in this conversation, so I'm not sure why you're using it.

Again- his stats greatly improve in the clutch. More so than any other QB in this draft class.

So how is he not clutch?

LMMFAO>.... Wish I would have read this first so I could have just ignored this entire posts as pure horsesh**. Yeah, Cam Newton and his 1 game where a team fell asleep completely after kicking their all game.

Ricky Stanzi sucks. Stanzi is so clutch he earned the nickname Pick Six Rick.
