Titans haven't done squat in the post season in some time, it would be nice NOT to have to wait another 2-3 years for this to happen. I understand playing a guy too soon could be detrimental to his development, but I'm tired of meaningless seasons. C.J. does something exceptionally rare gaining over 2500 yards from scrimmage, and for what, 8-8. It's irritating when you realize these things.

If he were even close to as talented as Vince was, you might have a point.

But Kaepernick can't hold a candle to the college player that VY was. Not even close.

Kaepernick isn't even that good as a college QB. So him being the smarter physical clone of VY means nothing to me considering he isn't half as good.

Sorry, but the stats don't support this statement at all.

Young certainly played in higher profile games against better teams, but he also had a far superior supporting cast.

In the end, their college statistics are remarkably similar. Don't believe me? Have a look for yourself.

Well I don't think we should draft any quarterback at eight, mostly because I don't think any of them are a sure thing. Every quarterback in this draft has holes and I have concerns about all of them. I agree with you, I don't see one either.

I'm just tired of people elevating a quarterback because he can run to get a first down. You know what happens to those types of quarterbacks.... they get hurt all the time. Why would I want another mobile quarterback that may make an exciting play with his legs every once in a while, just to get hurt the next time he takes off running? Dalton's accuracy is much better than Kaepernicks' as is his ability to read a defense. I don't want us to gamble on a quarterback... we did that in 2006 and now it's 2011 and we are starting all over again.

Well he may very well start if we draft him, but we really just won't know until we see what free agent we an sign. The thing is, if we do have to start a rookie I'd rather it be Dalton than Kaepernick.

Doesn't matter what he did against the high schools he played against.

Watch the 2 on video and you'll see they're worlds apart.

Kaepernick is about the most generic form of VY there is.

And keep in mind, I hated VY as an NFL prospect also... but Kaep isn't even close.

I think VY was the better QB entering the draft, but Kaep is definitely more athletic (stronger arm, faster). That being said, Kaep's speed is more straight line, VY was more agile. Kaep just brings good character, good work ethic, and intelligence to the position. Combine that with his skill set, I think he could develop into a franchise QB. I'm not saying it will happen, but discounting him just because of VY is ridiculous.

I think it's the dream. I still hold onto it. Michael Vick showed it last season. Steve Young had 4 or 5 seasons with great passing and running.

If you could have a long term consistent QB with that skillset (which has yet to happen) it just seems to be an unstoppable combination.

I really believe one day a QB will have a successful long career averaging 500 yards rushing a season and a QB rating in the 90s.

Let's not draft somebody to start this year just for the sake of doing that. If the guy is just mediocre and not likely to ever be more than an average NFL starter, just throw Rusty or a free agent into the starting roll. I'd rather have Cam Newton if we'd just sit him like McNair for 3 seasons. Or Kaepernick, but under no circumstance should he start the opener.

I can't post full games on here, so I went to YouTube and I found this clip which includes many of his different passes from different games.

0:24, his release has a hitch, but as you can see here, it is fairly quick.

1:08, he steps up in the pocket, and still keeps his eyes down field.

1:28, pure arm strength, no power from the legs, accurate on the run.

4:56, makes his read, clears the flats with his eyes, checks down.

After that, it gets pretty repetitive. The video is full of plays showing off his arm strength, his fairly quick release (despite the hitch), and his ability to keep his eyes down field. His running highlights are all over the place also.

Oh, I'm not discounting him because of VY.

I'm discounting him because he sucks.

Plus, he just looks weird playing. He throws odd, runs odd... much like a highschooler that isn't comfortable wearing pads or something. Just doesn't look very coordinated or much like an athlete, even when he runs.

Just reads very high-school QB to me. Everything he does looks amateur.

I hate Cam Newton, but even he's miles ahead of Kaepernick.
