Yeah. I've been in a few of these over the years. It might lead to each person getting a coupon of some kind for a discount to purchase an EA game.

I thought it might be spam. How often does this happen?

I don't see much coming out of this, but I'll take some coupons for a discounted Madden game. :D

Yeah I got an e-mail earlier today saying I could be part of the class action suit. Honestly as disappointed as I've been with Madden since EA acquired the exclusive license, I must say this lawsuit is a joke. The consumers were overcharged? Madden costs the same amount of money as the vast majority of other brand new video games. And no one was forced to purchase it. I'm the one who is dumb enough to buy the game year after year, despite knowing EA half-a***d it.

So I'll be opting out for moral reasons. I'd love to see EA get some competition again. But a lawsuit, really? I totally get the frustration with the quality, or lack thereof, of Madden lately. But whatever happened to personal responsibility? I can almost guarantee nothing will come of this lawsuit. Just more time and tax dollars down the drain.

I just don't like EA because of the exclusive licensing. That's why I hope they go down in flames. The NFL's partnership with them effectively forces any NFL football gaming fan to buy an EA game. I hate the exclusive jersey licensing too, to Reebok. My McNair Jersey was a Champion jersey, and it was cheap. Now you can't get the crappy Reeboks that fade out easily for under 70.

The Champion jerseys sucked though. I remember the Puma jerseys being the popular ones back in like '98-'01... which is sad because they sucked too.

Reebok does make the better jersey in comparison to those two, but I'm ready for something different.

I hate the exclusive licensing as well. No competition is always a very bad thing for the consumer. That doesn't make this lawsuit any less of a joke though. If you're going to sue EA, why not sue the NFL as well for selling off the exclusive rights?

The bottom line is a company can sell the rights to a product they own to whoever they want, for whatever they want. It goes on everyday all throughout every branch of the entertainment business, and business in general. Can we also sue Warner Bros. for obtaining the movie rights to Batman? Does Warner Bros. have a monopoly on Batman?

Don't get me wrong. I hate EA with a passion for what they've done with Madden these last several years. I just get infuriated with frivolous lawsuits. And that's exactly what this is. The very fact that the basis of the lawsuit is "overcharging" is proof positive of that.
