So far there are only 3 NFL teams who have scheduled both private workouts and official visits with a player. The Panthers are doing it with Newton, the Broncos are doing it with Peterson and the Titans are doing it with Jake Locker.

This is probably our best evidence yet of which way the Titans are leaning at #8. Not many people expect Locker to be there in round 2. At this point, I'm not sure anyone does.

If the Titans like Locker, they definitely need to do their due diligence. Most agree that he has huge upside but has major problems (accuracy) that may not be correctable. Let's hope that the new Titans staff is able to determine exactly what is wrong with Locker's arm and if it can be fixed. It's vital that they get this one right.

Then again, this could all be a smokescreen and maybe the Titans want to throw everyone else off the scent of who they really like.

He's my #2. So I'd be alright with Mr. Locker.

I don't see this as a smoke screen nor do I see this necessarily that the Titans are sold. They simply want to gather more information to see if he justifies the pick. It probably will take the #8 pick to get Locker because he certainly won't be around in round 2 so if the Titans want him they have to take him at #8.
They better make sure he is worth it and thus the 2 meetings.

I'm not buying it. I have no idea what scouts are thinking, but I still think he'll end up going in the second round. Unless he rocks his pro day. And, don't get me wrong, I like Locker. I just don't think his accuracy problems can be fixed. Can you name one starting QB in the NFL (other than Vick) that never completed at least 60% of their passes in one college season? I don't think there is one.

Josh Freeman is the first name that comes to mind.

Come to think of it, he might be a decent comparison for Locker. Off-the-charts leadership and intangibles. Can keep plays alive and get key first downs with his feet. Really struggled with accuracy in college (and in his first season as a pro) but was able to overcome it and is now one of the most promising young QBs in the league. Many thought Freeman was a 2nd round pick but teams fell in love with his potential and he went in the middle of round 1.

    Completed 63.3% in 2007.

There are 3 things that I look for when I scout college QBs. First, they should have completed 60% at least once. Second, they should show the ability to step up in the pocket consistently. This shows me that they can keep their eyes down field, and that they don't rely on their athleticism to bail them out. Finally, they have to have great work ethic.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jake Locker have an insane amount of his passes dropped?

If anything, I'm sure his dropped passes were way higher than Gabbert, Mallett, and Newton's.

He was the entire Washington team. They finished 7-6 and won a bowl game. Before Locker was the starter, the team went 0-12. He made them a good (or at least decent) team.
