I see a lot of posts urging that the Titans take a DE (Quinn, Watt, Bowers, Dontay Moch), but Im not seeing as much interest in drafting a DT. Honestly I think that DE isnt our problem and a strong DT would have a bigger impact on our defense. Through the 2010 season we didnt have a problem getting pressure off the edge. Even when our DEs got to the QB, they had no problem with stepping up in the pocket because we got NO interior pressure. Even though I thought Haynesworth was/is a loaf, he MADE KVB into a probowler. Look at the dramatic fall off in KVBs production as soon as Haynesworth went down. Heck our secondary even looked better when we had him getting pressure up the middle

If we drafted a strong DT I think that our mediocre DEs (Hayes and Ford, and Ball if he comes back) would look A LOT better, AND it would take a lot of heat off of our mediocre linebackers. PLUS, we have Morgan coming back next year as a bonus. Getting a big hog in the middle that can get pressure up the middle and stuff the run would go a long way in fixing our defense.

A line with DE J Jones (in our new scheme), DT Fairley/Austin/Dareus, DT Question Marks, and DE Morgan would got a LONG way in shoring up the run, and putting a QB on their arse! :grrhee:

We just suck when it comes to d-line.

Best player available is the only way to go about this. For example, if Quinn and Dareus are there at #8, we need to take Quinn.

but there isnt a real dt that is worth a number 8 pick....dareus wont be there fairley may with his character concerns and he isnt much bigger than jones....i would rather either trade back and get locker or mallet and try to pick up and extra 2nd and then take a dt like austin if he is there or possibly paea falling to us but highly unlikely and a safety like ucla's or a big interior o lineman

If you're referring to Haynesworth, dont. He's not coming back.

As for the DT vs DE debate:

Yes, drafting a DT would be more useful, because we could swith JJ to DE. But besides Fairley and Dareus there are no DTs worth the #8 pick. If Fairley and Dareus are both gone, which is very possible.. and we wanted to go DL 1st ruond, we'd have to go DE. I say our DL Big-Board goes something like this:

    #1 - Bowers
    #2 - Fairley
    #3 - Dareus
    #4 - Quinn

Our 2 best Des from last year are not signed. Ball and Babin combined for 19.5 sacks. Ford will be back but he is not an ideal fit for our new defense.

Babin is less a fit for our 7 technique but Ball should be fine in it but Ball gets hurt a lot.

I think the DE provide more value where we pick.

Honestly when our top 4 linemen were healthy last year and playing together they were a good unit but Brown, Jones and Ball all had injury problems.

As i said before i think Watt is the best player we could draft at 8. He helps the whole defense no matter where he plays.

Best value at 8 among defensive linemen(assuming Bowers is off the board)..

    Watt
    Fairley
    Kerrigan
    Dareus
    Quinn

Jordan would be my 6th favorite guy. Great size speed combination no doubt and could be a great Dt for us.
