First of all, pick up some literature, learn something. Those trades are talked about for weeks before the draft, if someone wanted to pull the trigger, it's a simple call away.

Second of all, I don't think Ponder is the best QB in this draft. I never said that. The question was which QB would you want, and I answered Ponder. Why? Because he provided the most value where he's projected. If he was projected to go in the top 10 picks, I wouldn't have said Ponder. I thought the team would gain more by drafting defense with our first pick, and Ponder with our second. I would always rather draft for value, that's my draft strategy. It always has been, it always will be.

I hope these off field issues drives Mallett to the second round, where we can pick him up.

No they are not. That's just dumb. What happens is that after pick 25, 26 whatever you notice Ponder still on the board, like him a lot and don't think he will make it to 39 so you pull the trigger and make that call. Maybe the team picking 27th is belkieved to be interested in him. It's like reading tea leaves. This is an organic process where guys move up and down every few days how can you pre do a trade and where? And nobody shows their hand before the draft get real.

Quite the smartass there considering your last response to me was lame. If there is anybody on this board who actually does "read literature" it is me. You are the one who said that Quinn's 2009 season was the best ever. Yeah real knowledgeable! Morgan had more sacks than Quinn in 2009.

Still waiting for when 24 would be pulling the trigger to make that trade for the pick to get Ponder. Pick 25? Pick 28? With whom and when and what would be your offer?

It is becoming more apparent to me that we will take a QB in the 2nd. Too many teams have too many other needs at hand; thus, our early 2nd round pick at QB may happen...if those early teams ahead of us went QB in the 1st (which they probably will???).

People can talk about the QBs not being 1st round caliber, but this year there are very few first round caliber players in general.

Just an extremely weak draft class. It's very odd.

Out of this thread..THIS is something I can definitely agree with. There's usually at least a couple of "surefire" picks. This draft class overall seems to more be about whose better than avg..fairley had one great season..now he's a #1 pick? Last year he's probably not even a top 10 pick. But I guess somebody has to go first right?

Read it, I hope you learn something. I don't bullsh*t like you, especially when it comes to the NFL draft. I follow this stuff more closely than the actual season.

"If those teams were open to the concept of a trade, then we would have a preliminary discussion about parameters. We would never discuss any players of interest, but simply say something to the effect of, "if the guy we want is there when you pick, we would like to move up and here's what we would give you to do it."

That team in turn would say that if the player they wanted to pick was there, then they would stay at that pick and select him. If that player was no longer on the board, then we would do the deal."

I really don't know what you want from me here. I have no idea where other teams are projecting Ponder to go. Depending on the research the Titans do, I would hope they pull the trigger to get Ponder, even if it takes moving back up into the first. I would give up as much as a second and a third to do so. Check out the Lions trade from last year, they really didn't even give up that much.

Pretty lame really. You touted Ponder and then don't even have him on your big board of 32. Is your opinion changing? Damage control?

I asked a simple question about around what pick would you try and make a move on Ponder. i guess none since he is not top 32. Not a hard question if he is still there when pick 28-29 comes up are you willing to make that deal?

As for parameters early on that's fine but that might not be the team you end up trading with. Sometimes a player lasts longer in the draft than you thought so you make a move. You still only have 15 minutes to actually agree on something.

Did we have parameters worked out for getting that third rd pick for Cook? Of course not we saw he was still on the board, they thought he was great value so they made a trade.

How are the Lions a good example for us? They moved up just 4 spots. In any event we can expect to give up at least our 3rd rd pick to move up any distance at all.

Is our 2nd and 3rd worth it for Ponder? Apparently you don't think so he is not even in your top 32.

Maybe you need to change your tone. Your analysis should speak for itself but you are the one who touted a QB who doesn't even have an NFL arm. Did you even know that he an injury history? Did you know that he disappeared in that Oklahoma game. That he isn't always good under pressure? No i had to tell you that! The 1-5 against South Carolina a team Cam Newton pwned!

You said he was the most accurate passer in the draft. I countered with his average 61% comp rate. Who is blowing the hot air and who is using facts? Are his numbers indicative if a guy with superior accuracy?

You made a comment about Ponder's intelligence. I countered that there are a whole boatload of guys with great wonderlic scores who ride the bench.

You have not even made a strong case for this one guy but i'm supposed to think you are this draft guru?
