I don't think there is, but this site seems infatuated with the 3-4 so I though I would point it out.

Watt seems like more of a possibility now and to play outside at DE for us if we draft him.

I read that Grey wants to use a 7 technique with our ends which means playing less wide and having more run responsibilities. That basically leaves Babin out because he thrived on playing wide and crashing in.

A big problem with our defense last year and in past years is that our ends fly up the field out of control and we get beat on screens and bootlegs and trap plays.

Seems to me that Grey will want a front 4 that is more solid against the run and will probably blitz more to get pressure on the QB.

With Watt playing strongside De and Morgan on the weakside we would have 2 solid guys who can play the run and rush the passer.

    Watt certainly fits that description.

I'd like Cameron Jordan more on the outside if we want bigger DE and Watt more if we moved him inside.

Outstanding combine for Watt. He had among the best shuttle and cone times among defensive linemen and the 2nd best vertical jump. Outstanding for a guy who weighed in at 290.

He is now without question one of the 2-3 top guys for our defense at 8 if we don't go QB.

Lateral quickness was supposed to be an issue for him but he ran a faster cone and shuttle than guys 30 lbs lighter.

290 is a big DE even for a 7 tech. We've already got a lot of 'tweeners with Jones, Brown (before he bulked up), and "Question" Marks. I would call Watt more of a DT here.

I would just call him a damn solid DE, now we just need some beef in the middle. Like Fat Al, Henderson, Cofield, Tommie Harris, etc.

I wouldn't put him at DE here. 7 is still on the edge of the OT. That is an entirely different position than the 4 tech he was at Nebraska.

He would be responsible for outside containment at least part of the time, and he is not built for that, as far as we know.

The change from 9 to 7 may mean that our DEs go from being 250 to 275, but it isn't a wholesale change, like switching from 4-3 DEs to 3-4 DEs.

He may be a GREAT DT though. But switching him to a 4-3 DE is not a risk you take unless you are extremely confident that he can hold up all DE responsibilities, which are much different than a 3-4 DE's or a DT's.

As a Titan fan from WI, JJ Watt is a beast. I watched every Wisconsin game this year and was actually at the game vs Northwestern to clinch the Rose Bowl. JJ has a non stop motor and is always around the qb. He is a solid run stopper too. One thing a lot of people overlook is how many passes he knocks down at the line of scrimmage. He is so long he just puts his hands up and knocks down passes. I would guess he had around 10 deflections this year alone. I would have no problem with him being picked at #8, but there is a lot of talent at DE this year and I think some of the other guys are better.
