Well I like that he's athletic, accurate, very good mechanics, experience in a pro style offense, and seems to have a winning intangible. I can't help that the team around him was really bad. In hindsight he probably should have gone to a better team.

I don't see why it needs to be the last 10 years. Matt Hasselbeck, Josh Freeman and Jay Cutler only had 1 season where they averaged over 60% completion percentage (61% or 63% in Freeman's case) out of their time in college, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, and Jim Kelly never had a year over 60% completion.

So we have 2 guys who had 1 year over 60% completion (by 1%) who have had success in the NFL and 4 hall of famers with 0 seasons in college with a completion percentage over 60% in college, plus you already gave me Vick. So what does a 60% completion percentage in college mean? Well JaMarcus Russell and his 67% completion percentage say they mean very little if anything.

If your an Oregon fan I can understand how you wouldn't be impressd with Locker. I started watching Locker this year, just to hear what all the hype was about. When watching him play, win or lose, the things I found myself saying, more than anything else, were "why did they call that play?", and "is anyone going to actually catch the ball?" If you took the number of easily catchable balls that were dropped by his receivers this year, and adjusted his completion percentage, he would have been in the mid to high 60% range. If you factor in that the O-line didn't help him either, you have to admit that Locker's numbers are more of a product of his environment than his skill. I have no doubt you gave Locker a legitimate "eye test", but you have to take off the green and gold glasses. :brow:

BTW, I was rooting for the Ducks. You guys had a hell of a season. Good luck next year.

Christian Ponder needs to be our quarterback. I have watched him play from the beginning of his college career. Saw the potential in him. Watched him grow as a quarterback. He has all the skills necessary. Has a winning attitude. I don't think durability will be an issue. He has the "it" factor. He will be a franchise quarterback. Believe me.

I like Ponder. He def has some flags, #1: Durability #2: Arm Strength

Hopefully he'll clear these up in the senior bowl/combine

Where do you guys project the top QBs going?

    Here's what I see:

    Gabbert - #7 1st Round (49ers)
    Newton - #12 1st Round (Vikings)
    Mallett - #39 2nd Round (Titans)
    Locker - #41 2nd Round (Redskins)
    Ponder - #57 2nd Round (Seahawks)
    Dalton - #66 3rd Round (Bengals)
    Kaepernick - #80 3rd Round (Jaguars)

Cardinals get Kolb. Vikings get McNabb.

I hope we can snag Mallett at 39. That would be incredible, to get a guy who a month and a half ago we were considering possibly at #8? I don't care what caused him to drop, that would just be awesome.

If the rumored cocaine use and Ryan Leaf like attitude are true, then you can cross him off our list entirely. This weekend is huge for him. If he is cleared, then I doubt he slides into the 2nd, if the rumors are true, then he could slide all the way into the 3rd.

I'm sticking with my Ponder pick, although I wouldn't mind Locker. Not a fan of Gabbert, but I wouldn't hate the pick.

If we passed on Locker for Mallett I would freak out. I think this would be one of the stupidest things that our franchise could do. Even if the cocaine addiction is false I would still pass on because of his sense of entitlement and reported Ryan Leaf-like personality.

Locker has better physical tools and mechanics then Tebow but has similar work ethic and personality. I believe that when you are drafting a guy to build a franchise around you are not only betting on his ability as a player but how he reflects as a person. I think Locker has a higher ceiling as a prospect with his athleticism and mechanics; I, however, would bet on Locker the person 11/10 over Ryan Mallett.

If you watch the film on Ryan Mallett, he really regressed this year. It's not just his footwork, he misses wide open underneath routes, constantly makes the wrong read. His accuracy is underrated, but his decision making is very poor. Combine that with his lack of mobility, he becomes an average QB.
