From a passer standpoint, Ponder is the most accurate QB in this draft. Newton's completion % was greatly influenced by the offense he played in. He never had to make a tough through into coverage. You are correct for the most part about the QBs in this draft, outside of Ponder (which is why he's moving up so rapidly), they all have questions about their accuracy.

Exactly what offense did Cam Newton play in? It's not like he played for a Big 12 team that run a spread offense. He played in a NFL ready offense.

As for Gabbert, I don't understand the hype over him at all. But you know they have to have a QB or 2 to over hype every year. They run a spread offense and his stats should be way more impressive than what I have seen.

He was on no one's list because he hadn't talked of coming out and everyone was talking about Luck. Gabbert has been a top prospect in his class since high school.

Any time I watched Mizzou with Daniel, all I heard was about how good Gabbert was going to be...

^Yeah, and how good was he? Not very. Chase Daniel was actually respectable. Gabbert isn't.

And saying "judging him on what he did in college isn't fair" is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. In that case- how the hell are we supposed to judge any draft prospect? I'm sure Chris Henry's justification was about equal to Gabbert's by the Titans' FO. "Hey, he has size and strength! Don't judge him on how terrible he's proven to be in college... He's a project!"

As for someone saying Cam Newton has all the tools- he doesn't. And he's not the most accurate QB in this class- he's Vince Young. He's good at hitting guys that are either screen options, wide open, or stopped out of their route waiting on the ball. He's not a good quarterback.

You judge every draft prospect on pro potential. It's the only possible way to judge draft picks. Do you really not understand that?

Just because you miss sometimes (Chris Henry) doesn't mean that you suddenly abandon the only model that works and start drafting players based on their college stats. College stats don't matter. College system doesn't matter. They can both have an influence on the only thing that matters -- pro potential -- but those things alone do not matter.

You look at the skills a player has and project how they will translate to the pros. That's how you create a pro football draft board. It might be the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard, but it's reality.

So zone option plays and one read passing plays is an nfl ready offense? Honestly the spread is closer to a pro offense than what Cam ran. He might have a strong arm and decent accuracy but he has never had to sit in the pocket and read the defense, the same exact problem you guys were knocking VY for.

Oops, I meant to say he played in a more NFL ready offense, and not a NFL ready offense. My bad!!!

The spread is closer to a NFL offense? Lol lol lol lol lol

All SEC teams run a more NFL ready offense than any conference in the NCAA.

Let's not start a Cam Newton debate, because quite frankly, I don't want him in Nashville.

I haven't seen enough of him or read enough on him but to say he "came out of nowhere" is wrong. He was being talked about as a 2012 first round pick. And that's from draftcountdown.com as well as a few other sites but that's the main one.

It looks an awful lot like what Tom Brady and the Pats run and what Rodgers and the Packers ran most of tonight out of the shotgun with 4 and 5 receiver sets.
