Wait up y'all, if we get new helmets, then we won't be tackheads anymore... Swordhead #9? Damn, I sound like a fish, yo.

This isn't going to happen. Nike will be the official uniform manufacturer, but they won't design the uniforms. Each team hires its own design firm to handle uniform updates. It's possible that Nike may be able to influence one or two teams to try a more radical design (perhaps something like those disgusting Oregon uniforms), but the vast majority of teams will not be changing.

People said the same thing before Reebok took over and nothing changed. Most teams in the league value their history and we'll never see a team like the Packers or the Steelers trot onto the field in crazy monochromatic uniforms.

What is going to change is the material that the uniforms are made out of. Most fans won't even notice this. We may also see some minor changes to the cut of jerseys and pants.

McNair era duds and something similar to Deuce' helmet would be all I would ask for.
The "motion" of that sword logo will look weird from other angles so it would have to be the flames..
Nike will make radical designs available but not all teams will go that route. Probably very few in the near future.
It is time though to do away with ye olde disappearing sleeve on many NFL uniforms. Is it really considered a uniform if all the players don't look "uniform"?

If you think Nike wont go crazy with the NFL- you don't know Nike.

They're excited about it... planning on basically flipping the NFL's 'boring' style (their words).

They'll convince most teams to change their jerseys every couple years or so due to the revenue it creates.

Don't underestimate the power of Nike.

Though some teams may use the more conservative Nike templates... like:

That's actually a good observation. I didn't think about the Texans having a similar helmet. Still. Our white has to go. It's like wearing white shoes with a black tux.
No one pays attention to the Texans anyway though...

The day the Packers or Browns get anywhere near as goofy as Oregon I'll eat my own hat. Just because "some" of the world wants everything to look like Hot Topic doesn't mean all of the world wants that.

I like everything but our helmet color. I still think we have the coolest unis in the league.

I don't understand why the NFL puts so many restrictions an amount of unis-and when to use them. They'd have a lot of money to make if every team who wanted them had multiple alternates. (like if we wore white, both blues, and Oilers every year.)

But there are no restrictions on pants, right??

On an ironic note - I was recently hanging out with a friend aka "Mr Piranha" who I play music with occasionally in Psycho Charger.. He was telling me he was hired to design and oversee the manufacture of those giant field graphics for two NFL teams - The Titans and The Bengals. Pretty cool gig in my book anyway!

Hopefully he can design a logo that will protect even a small part of the field from being obliterated by season's end (like it always is)

Kinda ruins the point of home field advantage if your field is a mudhole.
