I fail to see the point in taking a 2nd/3rd tier QB in the mid-late rounds. They have a history a failing in the NFL. Even if they just have to be game managers your going to have to air it out at some point.

stanzi, dalton, devlin, and ponder are all solid college QBs who have very little upside and dont really have the "it" factor it takes to be a good NFL QB.

I dont see how you cant take people can say locker sucks when if he would have declared last year he prolly would have been the #1 pick. He has 1 down year and now he is not fit to be a NFL QB? That makes no sense at all.

all of you are crazy if you think any of the top QBs fall into the 2nd round (Mallett, Locker, Gabbert, Newton)

I actually agree with this, except for the idea of us drafting Mallett at all. His off the field issues pushed him from #1 on my list all the way off my board. As far as Locker, I would normally agree that one Senior Bowl shouldn't move someone up that far, but when you consider he was likely the #1 or at worst a top 10 pick last year, and that the only reason he fell this year was his performance with a less then stellar team around him, you have to think a strong showing at the Senior Bowl will push him back into the top 10. In a perfect world, he would do poorly there and slide to us in round 2, but I have read and heard numerous places that Mike Shannahan loves Locker, and knowing they need a QB you have to think with a strong showing at the Senior Bowl he wouldn't slide past Washington at 10. He is without a doubt the only QB in this draft I would even consider in the first round.

There is no way Locker goes #1 overall last year . . . he stayed because he graded out as a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Just because some ESPN guy said he would be 1 overall, doesn't make it true. He wasn't good this year, last year or any year. From his freshman year which he started until now, his completion percentage reads: 47.3, 53.8, 58.2, and 55.4--this is in the Pac10 in which having a high completion percentage is not difficult. What do you think those numbers look like in the pros? He can't hit 60% in college!!!

And for whoever posted the Cutler comparison, I take Culters number in the SEC over Lockers in the Pac10 any day of the week. They were closer than I thought, but as I said, Culters worst game was nothing like Lockers worst game--see his output against the cornhuskers earlier this year at washington . . .4/20, 2 picks, 71 yards!!!

If we draft Locker, I am out . . .

This is what happens when you base your opinions on stats and not actually watching him or reading scouting reports.

BTW DraftCountdown.com has us taking Blaine Gabbert. Guess I'd be cool with that, rather have Locker but I'll reserve final judgment until after the combine.

Haven't watched him? Sorry, but I am an Oregon/Pac 10 fan and have watched more Pac10 football that most people on this sight I would guess. I have seen plenty of Jake Locker actually playing in football games. You can add the eye test to the stats if you like. He doesn't pass it. He isn't accurate, doesn't read the field well, gets rattled under preasure . . . he will be a bust, take it to the bank.

Can I ask how many games you have actually watched Jake Locker play in?

I don't have an exact number but I've watched enough to not just base my opinions on completion percentage.

If you read my post above, you will see that I was not simply making a decision based on completion percentage. I have seen Jake Locker play a lot and have seen little to be impressed about.

Ok, so if you want to put his numbers asside--his horrific performances against good defenses--what things have you seen in the games you have watched that make you think he will be a good NFL quaterback? Accuracy? Decision making skills? His intangible ability to win games? His performance in clutch situations? I will concede he has a strong arm and is mobile/fast, but what else do you see?

Since you think so little of completion percentage, can you name me a college quarterback in the last 10 years who never completed 60% of his passes in college, but was successful in the NFL. I will help out a bit--Michael Vick is one, but Locker is no Michael Vick . . .
