Right because every draft has a Tom Brady and Joe Montana in it in the later rounds. :sad2:

This logic is so stupid it baffles me that some of you can even think of it. EVERY PICK HAS THE POTENIAL TO BE A BUST. It's about playing the percentages. Yeah, if your 1st round pick is a bust its a waste, duh. BUt the odds are wayyyy better that a 1st round QB is going to be better than a 2nd round or later QB. Is that such a hard concept to understand?

Your logic is correct, the problem is finding a franchise QB in this draft. Right now, today, there is not one. Now, if Ryan Mallett's character concerns turn out to be unjust, then he could be, and if Jake Locker proves at the Senior Bowl that he can produce at elite levels when the talent around him is equal to the talent on the D, then he could be. But right now, both have too many questions to justify the pick. Can that change? Absolutely, but what people are saying is what they see right now, and right now there is no franchise QB in this draft. With Fisher having 1 year left on his contract, I just do not see anyway we use our first round pick on a QB. It will most likely be a DT or a CB that can come in and make an impact from day one.

No, they don't, but every draft doesn't have Matt Ryan or Sam Bradford either. Right now there is not a QB like either in this draft. Locker could be, but he has to step up at the Senior Bowl. Mallett could be, but he has questions about his footwork and most importantly, his character. Gabbert reminds me of Akili Smith. For all the talent he has, and playing in a QB friendly offense, the #s are just not there. Of all of these, Locker has the best shot to be a franchise QB because of his attitude, the problem is, if he steps up at the Senior Bowl, it is very likely the Redskins take him before us. Mike Shannahan is said to be very high on him. If he has a bad Senior Bowl, does he slide enough to get to us in round 2? I doubt it. QBs with his arm strength rarely slide that far.

My guess is we see Mcnabb or Kolb in a Titans uniform, or god forbid, Orton and we wait until next season to draft a QB.

I agree with this. I believe McNabb or Orton will be our QB in 2010. Fisher will not go into his last year on contract with a rookie QB.

In your opinion. I beg to differ.

then differ....sell me on your guy Locker as the #8 pick. It is not possible unless like I said, he produces at the Senior Bowl.

from 2000-2010, the only 1st round draft classes that didn't produce quality starting quarterbacks was 2002 and 2007. Thats 8/10 years that there was a Sam Bradford or a Matt Ryan. If you go back further the stats are even better. And some years there were more than 1, sometimes 3 quality QB's in the first round. So in those 10 first rounds, 16 or so good quarterbacks were produced. I'll take my chances on this draft.

I know the #s...and the QBs in this draft are more like the QBs in 2002 and 2007 then they are Matt Ryan, Bradford, or Sanchez. Every QB taken in the first round of 2002 and 2007 had major questions. David Carr, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey, Jamarcus Russell and Brady Quinn. Those were the names, unless I'm missing someone. You think the GMs of Oakland and Cleveland looked at the draft and said, from 2000-2007 only one hasn't produced a quality starter, I'll take my chances? No, you evaluate this draft for this draft. You do not evaluate it against the others. With this being Fisher's last year under contract I do not see him using a first round pick on a QB. He will take an immediate impact player.
