Boy oh boy is there a whole bunch of Harbaugh talk going on out there. I'm checking in to him a bit, and outside of this season with Andrew Luck, there seems to be very little that's all that spectacular about him. Heck, Rex Ryan got the job he applied for in NY.

What do you see that would make him worth the salary he could be commanding?
Does one great successful college season justify an NFL career?

Billick has a SB Ring, but can't get a job.

    Discuss.

He has put the building blocks in place for that one great season. He has done a phenominal job at Stanford. I was hearing good things about Harbaugh before I'd heard of Luck.

With that said, I think that it is a big risk to take him at HC in the NFL for that money.

Ask Nick Saban what happens when "sexy" college coaches try to coach Big Boy football.

He's over-hyped, probably... but in his 4 years he led the Stanford football from pretty much an afterthought to a top 5 team in the nation. They made big waves upsetting USC (twice), so that gets you a lot of attention. And prior to Stanford he did well at USD.

He's a risk because 1) he's only done it at the college level, and 2) it's hard to separate how much Andrew Luck really made Stanford what it is. But many people (including myself) see him a little like Mike Tomlin... a young coach who quickly rose in the college ranks by turning around the teams he worked with. Of course Tomlin was on defense and Harbaugh has more of an offensive background, and Tomlin did work in the NFL as a DC in MIN. But in my mind everyone is a risk. Chow was a college genius and an NFL flop. I'd love to see what he could do in TN.

I'm beginning to think that Chow took the fall for the failings of a kid who refused to learn his craft at a higher level. jmo

Vince didn't help Chow out, but there was something else going on there. First off, Fisher wouldn't have let him go if Vince was the problem and we all know what Fisher thinks of Vince. Remember in his 1st season with the Titans Chow had McNair, with the results being pretty ugly. Then he had Collins in 2006 and the results were so ugly they played Vince earlier than they wanted to. And then when the Titans released him no other NFL teams came a-knocking. He just wasn't up for the NFL and the difference in how defenses attack you.

Since Luck is staying for his senior season so will Harbaugh stay on at Stanford as HC.
