I don't think that Raheem Morris is gonna get canned after 1 very good season with Tampa. Sure they're probably not gonna make the playoffs but they have made a whole world of improvement record-wise.

Considering they had a top 5 pick last year, I'd say they turned it around rather well with Morris.

I agree...my only point is that this is the level of coach that will be interested in coming here with our current situation.

I think it's more that Fox hasn't done much recently, but they're rebuilding.

Many coaches would love the chance to become the HC of an orginazation. So we only go after proven coaches? How many of them are out there? What about up and coming coaches? It is all a crapshoot. When it comes down to it, there will be risks involved. But if only proven coaches are hired there would never be another new head coach. There are plenty of quality coaches in the wings waiting their turn, and hoping for the chance to make their mark on the NFL as a head coach. The "current situation" is way overblown.

I disagree....as I have said numerous times across numerous threads now, in my opinion no credible coaching candidate (proven or not) will come into a situation where he knows that a player has more pull with the boss than he does. Simple as that. As such, all talk of Gruden, Harbaugh, Cowher, or fill in the blank of who we think is "top shelf" should be recognized for what it is....wishful thinking.

LANGSTER summed it up perfectly, Jeff Fisher's record is what is gonna get him fired, not Vince Young. At the end of the day it's gonna take good money to get us a good coach, period. Everybody has a price and I'm sure they wouldn't turn down a boatload of money and a chance to coach a great young team because Jeff Fisher and Vince Young's arranged marriage didn't work.

I'm sure most coach's know Jeff is a joke anyway. They could out coach him in their sleep.

My opinion has nothing to do with Fisher's record, or really, nothing to do with VY specifically. It has everything to do with chain of command.

Think about it...would you want to get into a situation where someone you are expected to manage can basically "kneecap" you by going over your head to your boss, because the boss has already shown that he will back the person? Then (ok, this may be specific to VY) throw into the mix that this person who has your boss's ear has already shown himself to be childish and immature?

Will someone walk into this situation?? Sure. Money can buy folks. Will it "buy" someone who is about more than the money, or wants to build his reputation (what I call a credible coaching candidate)? I think not.

You Guys Situation Isn't So Bad

I think this exaggerates the issue. The owner isn't obsessed with Vince at the expense of all else. He simply has a potential asset of uncertain value in Vince Young. He wants to see that asset utilized and its market value properly determined. If a new coach comes in, installs the same offensive package he would for anyone else, and Vince simply can't hack it, that will be real data. And that will be that, at relatively low cost, too, since no one will be expecting you to be a Super Bowl contender next year.

All a new coach has to do is get the data, and it will be whatever it is. Vince succeeds and you have a quarterback. Vince fails and you move on, relatively soon. Vince is okayish and you start hedging your bets in terms of future planning. It will all work out, and almost no is going to turn down a head coach job because of that.

I'm not taking sides in the Fisher/Vince thing because none of us know what has really gone on behind closed doors. Fisher clearly doubts Vince's ability as a quarterback. Maybe he has good reason for that. Vince clearly doesn't trust Fisher. Maybe he has good reason for that. I have no idea in either case.

Vince has been immature at times. But I will also say that I think Fisher, whatever the merits of his position, has misplayed his hand a bit. Whatever one thinks of Vince, the objective data says you were 0-6, the owner said to put him in, and you went 8-2. That doesn't necessarily mean Vince is the answer at quarterback. What it does mean is that he earned the starting job for 2010. So if you're Fisher, you put him out there with the same game plan you would for any starter, and you let him sink or swim. Let the data speak for you. By pulling him in the Pittsburgh game and giving off these hair trigger vibes, fairly or unfairly, it can look to outside observers like Fisher's thumb is on the scale. And that simply clouds the data. Vince can hack it or he can't, and no one knows the answer to that for sure because of the drama queen vibes from both Vince and Fisher. Fisher should have just let it ride. If he's confident Vince is a loser, stick with him until it was proven. It's not like Collins was a big improvement anyway.

That's the other minor issue I would have with Fisher. I think he's unrealistic about Kerry Collins at this point. Collins still has arm strength, but it's going. That doesn't make him bad, but it does make him inconsistent: 1 good throw followed by 1 bad throw, or 2 good throws followed by 1 bad throw, or 2 bad throws followed by 1 good throw. He's a decent backup to try and salvage a couple of games a year due to injury, but no team that thinks of itself as a serious playoff contender should have him as a starter. If he's your savior in the wings, give up that delusion and get the data on Vince.

    Just my thoughts.
