I have compared 5 long term coaches in the league but added a twist. All but one has a top quality sure fire(or close to) Hall of Fame QB and compared their winning percentages with and without these QBs and the results are pretty interesting. Info source is www.fantasyfootballchallenge.com.
    CWP is career winning percentage
AQBWP is winning percentage with another QB
QQBWP is quality QB(Manning, Brady, Elway, Rivers) winning percentage

Bill Belichick-widely known as a football "genius" and a god in Boston
    CWP 64%
    AQBWP 46%
    QQBWP 77%

    Tony Dungy
    CWP 67%
    AQBWP 56%
    QQBWP 76%

    Mike Shanahan
    CWP 59%
    AQBWP 54%
    QQBWP 73%

    Norv Turner
    CWP 47%
    AQBWP 40%
    QQBWP 63%

When you compare their "true" winning percentage with Fisher's CWP of 56% then you understand why the "experts" call Fisher a great coach, because he makes the most of what he is given and he has been facing Peyton Manning twice a year for 12 years now. One also realizes that highly respected coaches may not completely deserve the accolades they are given since it's the QB that actually makes them look good. The stat about Belichick bothers me the most because he is so widely respected and is thought of as a "genius."

    very nice work. Interesting.

The only issue with that, is that the AFC South has only been around since '02, so he's only been facing Manning twice a year for 8 years.

Can you use that site to compare against former coaches too? Coaches such as Lombardi (Bart Star), Chuck Noll (Terry Bradshaw), John Madden (Kenny Stabler), Tom Landry (Roger Staubach), Bill Walsh (Joe Montana).......it could be interesting to see the era comparisons.

Nicksmith, you're right. I forgot about the re-alignment. It feels like we've been playing against Manning for 20 years.

Chapparal, we really can't compare coaches in the salary cap era to the ones before it.

Um this is Bull $h*t. The AFC Central did not include the Colts, therefore that 12 years vs Manning is bogus. Next you say
He chooses these bums named Jovan Haye, and Nate Washington. If Fisher does anything right it's budget a team, and manage those players.

This is a big part of why I believe that Fisher's inability to win a Super Bowl has almost everything to do with him not having an elite quarterback. When he had McNair, he came as close as you can get to getting it done. As much as everyone loves McNair, he was never truly elite. He was what I would call a 2nd-tier guy.

Give Fisher a current 2nd-tier QB (like a Philip Rivers, who I think we can all agree is not quite at the level of Brady/Brees/Manning... at least not yet) and I think the Titans would be a Super Bowl contender every year.

It's looking more and more like Fisher will be gone after this season and Vince will be back. That leaves me with a very uneasy feeling. I'm not totally against firing Fisher, but I think that Vince needs to sent packing before Fisher.
