Fisher and Titans are completely lost without Vince Young.

I don't understand the obsession with Gruden..I don't want him at all. I live in Tampa through the Bucs years and I have to say most of you guys are overrating him quite a bit.

I think you are stretching when you say they got what they wanted. They got as close as they could to what they wanted and look how it has worked out for most. I honestly don't believe that anyone would hand pick Orton if they could get exactly what they wanted. Same goes for Henne/Pennington and Cassel. Sanchez was a lucky pick. Brees is probably the best example, but even that required a good trade.

I'm not saying a change at QB isn't the answer, I'm just saying that it isn't this guarantee of success that everyone hopes. Neither is a new coach for that matter. However, I still think that an "elite" HC not going somewhere based on the QB is just bad business by the coach.

Agreed. Offensive coach, won with defensive team, won with Dungy's team, never developed franchise QB. He may be smart, but he's overrated in my opinion.

Agree with this as well....Gruden is pretty much the offensive version of Fisher IMO...

Agreed.. What a pathetic tale. Almost as pathetic is the VY apologists who read about this blubbering baby act yet still throw blind support his way..
There is no I in "team" but there sure is an I in "Vince"

The guy writes about an epic meltdown of a team, yet manages to make the headcoach look like a martyr, absolving him of any responsibility for what is going on. Sometimes I'm surprised Fisher isn't portrayed with a halo...

    59% winning percentage.

    Super Bowl ring..

    6 winning seasons..

    3 losing seasons..

    2 8-8 seasons..

    Looks pretty good to me.

He was fired after 2 straight 9-7 seasons in which he had Jeff garcia as his QB and really had no feature back. In fact in those last 2 seasons the Bucs did not have one top 10 type QB, RB or WR.

I don't know a guy with 11 years experience, still young at 47 with a history of success.

What is there to complain about?

Who was he supposed to develop? He took a journeyman backup and won with him in Rich Gannon and he was 9-7 his last 2 years at Tampa with Garcia. What young stud QB was he supposed to develop?

If not for the dumb tuck rule he maybe takes the Raiders to the super bowl in 2001. Had he stayed in Oakland do any of us doubt he would have done as well with them as Callahan did?

This is not a Fisher versus Vince issue with me. Allow me to clarify.

Fisher has provided the franchise with a relatively stable head coach with moderate results over a 17 year period. The ultimate goal hasn't been obtained and there has been a long enough period for that to have occurred under his tenure.

Vince has provided the franchise with some exciting moments on both ends of the "high-low" spectrum. He hasn't QB'd a playoff victory and has a tumultous history regarding maturity and professionalism.

Fisher is gone after this year. I have nothing to post to support his remaining as head coach. He has been diligent and professional in his approach albeit ineffective at obtaining a Super Bowl victory. He is widely respected around the league for that reason. It is time for him to move on to another franchise.

Vince crossed a line of professionalism when he cursed out his head coach in front of the rest of the team. It is naive and wishful thinking for Vince "supporters" to believe that won't have a significant impact on coaches who might weigh giving him a chance versus another player. Bud Adams is about making money and will only pay to field a team that keeps his profit margin steady.

In summary, this is an issue of professionalism in the entertainment industry known as the NFL. You have all types of profit generating components such as owner's, marketing, coaches, players, media, etc. Fisher will move on to another franchise. I honestly don't see Vince making money anywhere else for owner's except maybe in Texas. Tennessee, and other states I imagine, is sharply divided in their support of Vince, the supposed franchise QB of the future. There are safer risk/reward options available for owner's and head coaches to embrace as a franchise QB.
