I don't see the difference in it because I don't do one over the other. Therefore I have no reason to make EXCUSES for my actions.

    You do.

I'm sure Vick could justify killing dogs if you asked him, just as someone can justify killing any animal they get excited to kill during hunting season. It's the GAME they love... despite what comes with it.
A hunter loves to kill. A dog fighter does the same.

You only see it as different because you're accustomed to one over the other. Vick was used to dog fighting. Grew up around it. Just as kids grow up and think it's fine to go kill animals in the woods for fun.

That's funny considering I've never staged a dogfight or hunted any animal in my life.

Yet somehow I have the intellect to distinguish the difference.

did anyone see the PETA episode of South Park when they poured buckets of blood on people randomly.

    That was hilarious...

    So explain it to me...

If someone tortures people because it's fun for them.

and another someone kills people quickly because it's fun for them.

There's a difference? So it's all in method?

Had Vick just plugged them in the skull with a bullet and piled them up, no one would be upset? I kind of doubt that...

Ok, but quit being so dense.

We have a legal system in the United States with varying degrees of murder charges, from murder in the first, second, third degree to reckless homicide, voluntary manslaughter, and involuntary manslaughter.

Obviously the legal system is imperfect. But I much prefer it to a system where "murder is murder". Quick example. A driver hits and kills a pedestrian, who the driver claims walked directly in front of his car. A man finds out his wife cheated on him, premeditates a murder for months, follows through and viciously kills his wife. If it was as you suggest, both the driver and the cheated on husband should get the exact same sentence.

Point being, if we as a society are capable of distinguishing differences between murder of persons, why not animals?

Of course people would be upset. He was still bankrolling a criminal enterprise involving the torture and fighting of animals, including all that goes along with dog fighting (which includes the theft of "pets" which are used for training against the dogs that fight).

Personally, I find Vick's style of execution for wounded animals among the most heinous of crimes. If it weren't so extremely cruel, I would personally view him as slightly less of a scum bag, for my perception. It's a likely assumption that public perception would be slightly less harsh without the electrocutions and forced drownings. Not sure if it would've lessened his sentence, but I know the way Vick executed the wounded animals was used in the criminal hearing against him.

I blame Burger King for pitbulls getting a bad reputation.

The reason I think Vick should have gotten 10 years minimum is because everyone, including the media, has downplayed the involvement of gang related activities with his so called kennel.

There was enough evidence for the feds to get a RICO suit going and implicate Vick and his associates with Federal Organized Crime charges but Vick's creditors came to bat for him in court because they knew if Vick never played in the NFL again, they wouldn't see one red cent of the money he owes them.

Here's the problem. We're not comparing accidental murder with premeditated. We're comparing murder for FUN vs murder for FUN.

I suppose, but I wonder what Vick PERSONALLY did. I'd bet he didn't see 90% of the things the dogs went through.
