I would not be shocked to see the Titans bring in a vet linebacker and/or safety this weekend. Robert Johnson may survive a cut until the Titans find someone on the wire. Same with Schommer. Rolle is likely gone and, if the Titans sign a safety off the wire, may not even get a practice squad spot over Schommer or Johnson.

Same deal at LB. If the Titans can find a special teams guy who upgrades Winborn and Keglar, I think they'll pull the trigger.

    Some thoughts on last night:
Fisher was pissed with Britt last night and, when asked last night in the post game interview, "We discussed it and it’s fine and behind us." Well, his body language when he said that made me feel it's far from being "behind us". I would not be surprised if we rarely see Britt early in the season.

It's nice to see Cook making plays after a slow start. I think he'll only improve.

Jason Jones is about to have a Pro Bowl season, IMO, if he can stay healthy.

Special teams (penalties, blocking assignments) better get fixed fast. I think that's the key reason we may see the Titans bring in some depth at LB and S who are stronger on ST.

Fisher has to find a way to get Verner on the field. I've never seen a rookie be around the football more.

The Titans miss McGrath even more after his play this preseason.

I think Mariani won the returner job last night even though Fisher won't commit. D. Williams may end up a better option but his injury during camp set him back too much, IMO.

Ringer had a good game behind the #1 OL against the Saints #1 D. Good vision, broke a tackle, broke a long run. He's going to be able to handle a couple of series when needed this season.

Fisher won't tip his hand on the #3 RB but, if I know Fisher, it'll be Gado and Blount will be on the practice squad. Special teams play will be the difference.

And the "Rifle" is will be the Titans #2 QB in 2011.

Why does it seem to me that this seems to be the case EVERY SEASON. It always seems as though the Titans suffer from those aspects on ST all the time. Even when we would have an effective returner... that returner would be negated by penalties or abysmal blocking.

I guess the argument could be that Lowry is doing the best he can with "cast-off" players for his ST.

    I say, screw that.

Penalties and bad blocking gets put solely on the coach if it isn't fixed.

It isn't fixed. Every season it's like this.

Bad players shouldn't even be on a team if they are unable to be coached. This should be a simple concept. If a player can't be coached, cut that player. Since these players aren't being cut... that means they CAN be coached... which tells me our STs coach is s***.

I see this, as well. Unfortunately, I don't see Blount sticking around once we cut him. I definitely see another team scooping him up almost immediately.

It seems to me that this era of NFL is governed by the notion of "Running Back by Committee."

I think Blount would fill this perfectly for another team.

I would love to have him on our PS... I just have a hard time seeing it work out for us.

Last night was the first time, in a long time, that the Titans had a punt blocked. I'm hoping the Titans get the kinks worked out this week.

As for the kickoff and punt return stuff, it's frustrating. I assume that the early returns had who the Titans plan on starting next Sunday out there. I expect there will be a lot of work on special teams this week.

I hope we keep Gado over Blount. Blount has tons of potential, but he's too big of a liability in pass protection right now. You'd think being as large as he is he'd be a solid blocker, but he just doesn't have the head for it. I don't think Blount lasts long, he'll get signed elsewhere. Maybe it's just me, but does it seem to anyone else Blount only runs 2 plays?

Have we seen any decent names drop out there for pick up in the safety and linebacker areas?
McGrath will be sorely missed the first four games.
Plus it was our two rookie safeties that gave up on blocking that allowed the two blocked punts. so we need major upgrades there cause they aren't getting it done.

Blount wont be on the practice squad. Some team will pick him up quickly. he looks like Brandon Jacobs. i could even see the giants trying to get him.
