Who's excited!? Any predictions? I think Brazil will return to greatness this year and have high hopes for the United States. However, I'm sure they will flame out like they usually do.

I have Nigeria in my World Cup pool, they *should* advance but they won't win.

I expect it will be Spain or Brazil.

The best world cups are the ones played in a country that has no chance to win it all.

Home field advantage has been huge in the world cup. The French won when they hosted last and England's last cup was when they hosted.

Germany made the finals hosting and Argentina last won at home.

In this cup it is wide open!

I am going with the local meetup group to watch the game at some bar. I don't know a thing about the sport other than they run up and down the field forever. I'm going for the beer

Agreed. Home field is huge and South Africa along with many of the African countries will look to impress. Expect a lot of noise from the vuvuzela.

Don't care a thing about soccer, but will probably keep up with it as I have good friends who are south African. I was at Cool Springs Brewery last night and they said they are going to open early for some of the games and start serving beer at 9...and they have very good beer. Certainly the best in Cool Springs as far as a brewery is concern.

I'm hoping SA at least exceeds expectations... but it's hard to see how they make it past the group stage with Uruguay, France and Mexico.

I expect the US to make it to the semis if they can settle their defense down. A win this Sat would be a pretty sweet start.

I do not follow soccer, but will tune in to see if the worlds version is any better than whats here in the US. I'm sure I'll like it more, but is that enough....

I have so many Hispanic friends that are die hard fans of the sport, but outside of playing with them I'm lost. We'll see how it goes.
