Well I'm pretty sure I didn't open a thread titled "Phil Jackson" either so how'd it get thrown that direction? LeBron and Mike Brown aren't worth talking about since they are now home watching like us. Two weeks ago I was a big time supporter of LeBron's, but now seeing him blow it for years I've concluded he's only great when nothing counts. Therefor let's talk about the guys still playing. I'll meet ya in the "NBA Playoff" thread.

Yea, it was terrible. He "only" averaged 27 points, 9 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in the worst playoff performance of his career. Clearly he sucks...

Uhh... what other than SCORING matters when talking about being ebetter OFFENSIVE player? The only thing Lebron does better than Durant is passing and dunking.

LMAO... did you really just say a guy that can either post up every possession or use the sweetest jumper in the game from any range ONE dimensional? If he's one dimensional, Lebron has nothing. (Mr. Dunk, layup or free throws)
Has there ever been a franchise player that averages 30ppg? Uhh... Let me think... Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, and many others recently. Neither were passers. They're scorers. That's their job. To score. Not pass. They're not point guards.

Until he stops disappearing or missing layups or travelling when BIG GAMES are on the line, he's not even top 10 in clutch. He pads his 4th quarter stats in garbage games. He doesn't want the ball when the game is on the line unless... he's going TO the line. In many cases, he'll miss the free throws anyway.

You mean the seconds when legends are made? Those seconds that made Michael Jordan the greatest? Yeah. Sorry, that's what most people measure clutch by. Ice in the veins. Being THAT guy that takes that shot. And usually makes it.

Not some coward that bullrushes his way in and hopes to get 2 free throws (lebron)... or just passes it away. The guy has one clutch shot in his career... when he amazed himself by tossing up a 3 pointer to beat the Magic. He was still garbage the rest of the series.

Yep. That's the ONE shot I was talking about.

The one where he looks like he crapped himself after because even he didn't think he'd make it.

He vanished when it mattered. Like he always does.

Love how you forget his 9 turnovers in 2 of those losses. 27 points is down. And then it's a given that 20 of those points were probably free throws anyway.

The guy is the Peyton Manning of basketball.

So let's break down offense for Gloat: passing and scoring. So by saying that the 'only' thing LeBron does better is passing is like saying that the only thing Jordan did better than Stockton was scoring. That's half the equation. LeBron is stronger, faster, smarter, and has better court vision. I would say the 'only' thing Durant currently does better is shoot, which isn't insignificant. But still, LeBron does basketball better than KD right now.

So, lets break down your next retort...
    KD: 30.1 ppg, 2.8 apg
    KB: 27.0 ppg, 5.0 apg
    TM: 21.5 ppg, 4.7 apg

So, both of those guys average less ppg and almost double the apg. So you offer more evidence for my case and in classic Gloat fassion, act like you countered a point?

Padded stats weren't included in the stats I linked. Those are only the last 5 minutes of close games.

What made Jordan the greatest was constant winning. Who cares if he hits the last shot of the game or nails a shot with 30 seconds left to go up by 5. It's all a win. The first basket counts the same as the last. Stop being dumb. =/

It's curious to me that you mention Jordan and how LeBron is a coward for passing the ball in the clutch when one of Jordan's trademark plays was a pass to Paxson to win a game. I guess it's fine when you have teammates that finish the play, eh ?

It's also funny that you say that LeBron vanishes when it matters most, yet all of his averages are significantly higher in the playoffs for his career. Could you ever just simply back up one fact with something more than conjecture? Maybe a stat here and there? Is that too much to ask?

p.s. Kevin Durant's averages are all down in the playoffs. Who'd've thunk it!

I hate to agree, but this is typical LeBron James. It sucks because I want him to get to the Finals to face Kobe. Soon enough Kobe will be gone, and THEN James will get his ring. But it sucks I might never see that Finals series.

To be fair he's only played in 6 playoff games and it was against the Lakers.

KD averaged more points this season than anyone. He's 21. If you think Lebron is a better scorer than Durant, you simply don't know basketball.
He actually shoots. He uses his skills to separate, then drains shots. He doesn't just barrell down the lane charging every play like he's Brandon Jacobs. He's finesse. He's a weapon from anywhere. Not just 5 ft out.

....he also played IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE. Not that kiddie high school conference Lebron pads his dunk totals against.

I don't really mean to down Kevin Durant. He's awesome. Already a top 5 player in the NBA at 21 years old. Still, his game is not nearly as well-rounded as LBJ yet. He definitely has a sweet stroke and outstanding height for his position and a high basketball IQ, though. Still, LBJ is stronger, faster, has better handles, defends better, and passes like Magic. Being stronger, faster, and the way LBJ sees the court can't be learned imo so I don't believe KD will ever get close to LBJ in those respects.

Can't wait til LBJ gets a real team for next year. We'll see what Gloat has to say when he wins 5+ championships. I'm sure his argument will switch to "LeBron needed HoFamers to win him a ring". *sigh* The illogical hate will never end.
