Red Dead Redemption is SICK!

2 systems in 5 years is not horrible at all because the warranty lasts 3 years. If it breaks, you send it in, and they give you a new one for free.

Like I said, one of them broke almost immediately, so I wouldn't really count it... especially because I've only paid $400 total for my system (one purchase only). It's as if nothing ever happened. They break, you replace for free.

I guess if you guys can't live a couple weeks without your system then I can understand, but it's a pretty simple process.

Yes, when it boils down to it, this is all opinionated. But, I think the majority of folks would agree that the 360 is better.

 

No it's very horrible. You don't want a system to break AT ALL. Justifying it because of warranty is irrelevant. Warranty is just something all companies have to put on and Microsoft were forced to upgrade it to 3 years because of RROD.

If I bought something that broke twice in 5 years, I wouldn't bother with it.

There is no real basis for this at all.

I'm not a fan-boy, but you basically nailed why there is no "dominant" system, and why 360 fan-boys arguing for how great their system is, is above asinine.

Seriously, this guy is bragging about deals involving Halo, quite possibly the most over-exposed, overrated, and milked gaming franchises this generation.

Don't even bring up the hardware sales over the past two years.

 

I had my PS3 break via YLOD after purchasing the base 60 GB model, and I STILL would never compare it to the absolute failures of the 360.

I have had friends (not a typo, at least 2) who have gone through six (again, not a typo) machines in a four year period. Even within the warranty, the machines took an average of four months to send, repair/replace, and send back from Microsoft. And that's just my personal experience - there are even worse horror stories floating around forums.

The 360 has some advantages over the PS3, and the biggest one happens to be one that comes at an expense (XBox Live is superior to PSN, but it's not a significant difference for the price). There fairly even otherwise, except one of them is more undependable than a busted clock.

 

The PS3 online isn't near as good. I tried playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 and the matches were filled with guys that sucked so bad that I quit within an hour of dominating a game that I hadn't even played 10 mins of. But it's more the connection issues.


Everyone knows my stance though. I sold my original PS3 because it collected dust while I mostly played my 360. I bought another Ps3 later... and it does the same thing. It's probably due to me being used to the 360, but it feels like such a better quality system when the red lights aren't up.


For the record, my son's Nintendo Wii has gone out more times than my 360 has. He's had it for 2 years, I've had the 360 for almost 5.

just so we're even here. (What a POS "game" this is) I hate Halo too. Same with Mass Effect.

 

Deuce said it. PS3's online is nothing compared to 360's. Yes, it's free. But online gameplay is clearly better on XBL. No denying it.

Like I said before, if you're that picky about a system breaking down once every 3 years and having to do something else with your life for two weeks while it's being repaired, then maybe you shouldn't get a 360. Otherwise, it's great.

Out of my ten or so friends who are actually gamers, all of them go with the 360. Some of them have both. They never play the PS3. And those of them who were PS3 fans have since become 360 fans. They thought "wow the PS3 is great." Then they played the 360 and just completely forgot about the PS3.

I, too, hate Mass Effect. I wouldn't say I hate Halo. I loved the first two games. The third one had its moments and was okay overall. I'm hoping that Halo Reach turns out to be better. It's looking like they're going old school. It's apparently supposed to be similar to the first Halo... which I think will be really good.


Anyways, off the console war conversation and back to Red Dead Redemption. I thought about buying today while I was out and about. Well, it was sold out everywhere I went so it must be pretty good.

 

That's the biggest cop-out in the damn book. "If you can't find anything better to do while it fixes". I don't care what I buy, the fact that it has a failure rate of approximately 54.2% (and a 41.2% rate of failing TWICE) is pathetic. You realize that based on customer surveys, there is a 1 in 2 chance of something that costs $400 to break and have to be sent into repairs. Of course people have other things to do, it's still an inconvenience and a pain-in-the-.

I've heard countless arguments for Xbox live. I still question why exactly it's better. Because more people play online, that makes it better? Hell, the majority of my friends have an Xbox, but I have enough buddies to warrant playing such games as Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2, NHL 10, and others online with skilled, competent players. I've never had connectivity issues except when my $hitty modem was taxed by other folks in my apartment. What exactly are you getting besides "well my friends have it, so it must be better." Weak sauce.

I never said "my friends have it, so it must be better." I said all of my gamer friends have the 360. I never based the 360's superiority on the fact that my friends have it. I could care less what my friends have or don't have, honestly. Whenever I've attempted to play PS3, I have horrible connection online and the loading times are absolutely horrid. Lag on rythm games is absolutely pathetic too. If I switched from playing GH on 360 to GH on PS3, I would be horrible. It's not even fun playing GH on the PS3, honestly. Anyways, that's just one game and one example, but my online experience with PS3, overall, has sucked.

That's just me.

And I still don't see a problem at all with having one system break after three years of use. The next one I got was defective like I've said at least 3 times now, so I really don't think it should be counted. I've had no problems with the 360 I have now. I've had it for... let's see... a year and a half. I honestly wouldn't care one bit if it broke on me sometime soon. I'd just be like "Oh no. I can't play video games for two weeks. I'll go hang myself." No, but seriously... it wouldn't bother me one bit because I'd send it in and get a brand new one within two weeks.
