The answer to me seems like a pretty obvious one, but I got into a pretty heated argument over this with a couple of friends yesterday... lasted at least 30 minutes.

This is sort of random (not even really sure where the argument started from), but who do you guys think is better as of TODAY (heading into the 2010 NFL season)? Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers?

I'm all for Rodgers. I'd say he's a top 5 QB in this league. Both of my friends say Favre.

I even went on to ask if you could choose a QB to have on the Titans... Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers?... I still think the answer is pretty obvious (Rodgers), but they both prefer Favre.

Favre is 40 years old, he's got a banged up ankle, and he has one more season at best left in him.

Rodgers is 26 years old, healthy, in his prime, and has another 10-12 seasons left in him (assuming he can stay healthy).

I just don't see how anyone could think Favre is currently a better QB than Rodgers.

One of my friends even went on and extended the argument, saying that Brett Favre is a better QB because he led his team further into the playoffs... that's illogical. Hell, Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl and he's one of the worst QBs I've ever seen play. Kerry Collins made it further in the 2009 playoffs than Peyton Manning. Does that make him better? Definitely not.

I said that Favre had it easier because he had AP to help out... my friend went on to argue that Ryan Grant did better than AP in weeks 11-17, implying that Aaron Rodgers had more help than Favre. My @ss!

I'm just curious as to what everyone else thinks.

This shouldn't even be a debate. Favre is falling apart and needing all of these surgeries, while Aaron Rodgers looked great last season and is still improving more. Give me Rodgers any day of the week.

If we are talking based on last season I would take Favre, but since he is question mark with potential injury and retirement, I would take Rodgers for this season.

Brett Farve might play till he's 60. The guy has a cannon and a heart. Aaron Rodgers will be the guy that lives in Brett Farve's shadow his entire life. How can you say Aaron Rodgers is better when Brett Farve came into Lambeau and SMOKED the packers twice in a season! Brett Farve made a terrible decision in the playoff game, but let me tell you. AP lost that game for the Vikings. The Vikings would have exposed the Colts in the SB and wouldnt have needed trick plays to win.

Favre is 40. Rodgers is 26. That is why Rodgers is better.

If you base this question on career performance, Favre is phenomenally better than Rodgers. But, this is 2010. Favre is done.

There really is no debate, because of the fact that Favre has so many years under his belt, while Rodgers only has 2 years under his belt.

If you're asking who would i have as my QB now, it wouldn't take a Scientist to answer that. A 26 year old or a 40 year old? Hmmm, give me the up and coming 26 year old.

Now if, you're talking about just for one season, i'll have to still go with Rodgers. Rodgers just looks really good in my eyes. He is destine to be a very, very good QB in this league for years to come.

Yea, I'm talking about right here, right now... 2010 NFL season.

You can't logically argue that it would be a better choice to take Favre for the 2010 season. That's why my friends don't know what the hell they're talking about... and at the end of this poll, I expect the results to speak for themselves.

Putting age aside, I would take Rodgers' current skills over Favre's current skills. Rodgers may not have quite the arm of Favre, but he has excellent decision-making skills and he's one of the best rushing QBs in the league (both areas where Favre is sorely lacking).

That was far more than Favre vs. Rodgers.

The Packers' O-line was awful, while the Vikings have one of the best lines in the league. The Vikings' D-line is also one of the best in the league. Oh, and Favre is handing off to the 2nd best RB in the league. You can't tell me that is Favre outplaying Rodgers. Even the stats can't say that. Football is a team sport and a QB's success depends on a lot of things.

The stats can say whatever you want them to say but at the end of the day, the W or L is the only stat that matters. Brett Farve has owned Aaron Rodgers from day 1. BF has a ring and AR will never get one. I will bet money on that. You heard me say it... Aaron Rodgers will never win a superbowl. Yes, this season, I would take Brett Farve as my starter and Bench AR.

Sidney Rice, Visanthe Shaincoe and the rest of the anonymous wide receivers and TEs in Minnesota owe every bit of attention they've received to Brett Farve. If Brett Farve wasnt there, you wouldnt know who any of those guys are.

If Brett Farve won a superbowl ring last year, everyone would be talking about how he is THE greatest QB of all time.
