Alan Faneca

Faneca is not good anymore. That's why no team in the league would even trade a 7th for him and he got cut.

 

So you want to put a guy in Amano on the bench who we just made one of the highest paid guards?

Faneca will either go to the chiefs, cards or maybe back to pittsburg because that seems to be their theme this year, maybe we can trade chris hope to them.

 

He is probably the weak link of our line but thats not saying much, because our line is really freaking good.

 

Well first of all some of you guys simply don't get it. Everyone assumes Amano isn't that good. I guess it has to do with draft position or name recognition or something. Well the guy is actually pretty good. I'd even say a little better than average. Everyone always thinks they know more than the coach and GM.

Well the guys who know Amano better than anyone thought the guy was worth a 5 year 25 mil contract. They knew what the market was and they knew what they had to work with on the team already. I said all along that Amano was as good or better than Scott. Well Scott gets paid about 5 mil per season. Amano can also play OC which makes him a little more valuable. Fans talked about Harris like he was Superman (so does Dinger) so common sense should tell you if Amano is starting he is pretty good. They watch the film, the evaluate players every game and in practice.

Faneca had a crap year and was set to make 7.5 mil. At best he might be as good as Amano at this stage of his career but there was no way in hades some team was going to pick up that salary. Now if we had a hole at OG I might think offering him a substantial lower contract to bring him in might be worth it. But we don't need him.

 

soxcat nailed it. Faneca has lost it. One of the sites that tracks these sorts of things had him as among the worst in the league this past season at missing blocks/assignments. He's just not very good anymore. I'm not a huge fan of Amano, unlike soxcat (I don't think he shows enough strength and leverage/push in the run game), but he is definitely better than Faneca.
