I believe CB is easiest to fix because speed is reliable. If you draft a good CB, I believe that is a reliable pick. I am less sure that if we get a good DL, pressure will be immediate. So given my choices, I'd use a high pick on CB, unless I saw a really fast guy available later.

But ultimately, pressure does make the DB's better. So I think that is the solution. It's too bad we couldn't sure that up with Peppers.

Yeah, look how Tye Hill turned out! :moon2:

Also, speed is NOT everything. Look at the Raiders, they always draft the big fast guy and they are horrible. Speed helps but you need other skills too.

lmao... however, having Jeff Fisher WONT allow us to be more aggressive or blitz more.

I don't like blitzing we need to load up our D line and rush 4.
Its one of the few things a like about fishy.

That's a tough one but I'd have to go with the secondary. I know they work hand in hand, and many people will say that even the best DB can't cover forever and that much of good coverage relies on pass pressure... that's all true. The problem I see is a lack of depth in the secondary whereas we have a fair amount of depth on the D-line. That's assuming we will re-sign Brown and Vickerson of course, but I'm pretty sure that will happen. But the depth in the secondary is just awful, mostly because the backups aren't very good, unlike the D-line were I think they can all play. Let's see, if Finnegan goes down, Rod Hood is his backup! At the other corner I'm guessing there will be a battle between Mouton and McCourtey but both of them have yet to prove they belong. Whichever one losses the battle will play nickel for us. Donnie Nickey is still a primary backup to Chris Hope which we all know is just unacceptable. Vinnie Fuller is a good backup to Griffin, but the depth after him is just not there.

This talk of drafting an LB in the 1st is just silly. In a 4-3 backers don't have to be play makers, hell in our scheme they hardly ever blitz. If we were a 3-4 team, then I could see drafting a LB with our first pick, but the deficiencies in the secondary and end position trump any need at LB.

Here's what I'd love to see...

    1st- Kyle Wilson CB
    3rd- Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB/KR
    3rd comp- Dekoda Watson OLB
    4th- Daniel Te'o-Nesheim DE
    5th- Major Wright, FS

    Something like this

    Well...

You also have to look at the most bang for your buck. The Colts put most of their D money on the two positions that most affect the quality of their D...the DE's. A zone D scheme means you need all of the cover players (CB's, S's, LB's) to be equally effective if you want to 'shut down' the passing game from a zone coverage perspective. If we had 2 shutdown cb's, it wouldn't help a ton 70% of the time (and that's assuming our blitzing significantly increased) as they can simply not throw at those guys and can still align their best WR on neither shutdown CB.

Having two shutdown cb's gives you the most bang for your buck when you play man. You can decide which TWO players to negate so you're always dictating to the offense instead of the other way around. Our '99 D was a man based scheme, unlike the zone scheme we use now. We also blitzed a lot more (because we had man cover cb's).

If we could take a Pro Bowl CB or a Pro Bowl DE...we should take the DE if we're keeping our current scheme. If they're willing to go to more of a man scheme, take the CB...which should be Wilson since he's played a lot more man and off man than Haden and Thomas combined.

I think there will be some quality CB's available in rnd 3. We took Mouton in rd 3 last year and I (and a lot of other people) had him rated as a 4th rnd CB. There will also be some quality DE's, LB's, and probably S. Outside of an OL player or a slot WR/kr/pr, I think we may go strictly D in our first 4 picks.

The ultimate boom or bust guy. If we take him, I hope it's in rnd 3 and the combo of wash and the huge chip on his shoulder will motivate him to become the stud he could be. But I'd rather take someone else. He's a HUGE risk!

the titans biggest problem is de.

they have a good dt rotation but they lack talent at de. that said i think they go corner first because they can get the best player available. there arent many good de's in this draft
