Is this Titan fan talking or Volunteer fan talking? There is no by far about it, fact is Thomas had a much better year than Berry and it was against much better WR competition, and against much better passing teams.

I have no doubt Berry is a great DB, but he isn't clearly better than Thomas, fact is Thomas is a much better cover man than Berry is. I would much rather have Berry when it comes to run support but not on passing downs.

    Deuce...

Care to show a youtube vid to support this assertion? Care to give any proof other than your opinion?

Please give factual proof or explain that this is again your own personal opinion...

You certainly have a way of ignoring a mountain of evidence (that refutes all of your points) and like to re-state your opinion in more colorful and insulting language. It'd be nice if you either came up with some factual evidence or explained your opinion based more than a bais against Texas.

When you say he's not fast (everyone's Pro Day is hand timed) and then are presented with factual evidence he IS fast, you then say he can't play the position because he's not really that fast and that speed is not fast enough to CONVERT to CB? I already presented FACTUAL evidence that he's as fast or faster than most of the top CB's in the draft. He exhibits a smooth backpedal and has shown he can flips his hips well and mirror on film quite well. Wh do you then say he is a slug, slow, and can't do those things?

I will not bother with such ridiculousness in the future unless you start giving some sound reasoning behind what you say/claim...

    Um...

Berry is a much better player and more versatile. Berry can be a great in the box S for run support, zone or man coverage or to blitz. Berry can play deep CF, 1/2 field zone, 3rds, quads, whatever. He can man up a slot, RB, TE or perhaps play outside at starting CB. He has great ball skills, speed, athleticism, instincts, and determination. He's also a very sure tackler and will additionally knock you out.

Thomas can match some of his abilities, but not being nearly as good a tackler or hitter really hurts his value as a S and a big reason some teams will look to move him to CB.

as a Texas fan :), just want to vent that Its a shame Berry lost the thorpe 2 years ago, he won it this past year as a make up over a more deserving Thomas IMO.
no argument about who is the better pro prospect, but Thomas had a simply ridiculous season. I'm hoping Aaron Williams can make up for it next year and bring home another thorpe to UT.

NFL draft scout ranks Thomas as the #2 CB behind only Haden and ahead of Wilson. Thomas' 10 yard split on pro day was 1.49 and his 20 yard split was 2.47. That is really fast.

Would have been nice to see a shuttle or cone time and a vertical but this is a guy who weighs a solid 200 lbs, tackles like a safety and has the athletic ability to play CB for anybody.

Incredible ball skills he often locates the ball faster than the WR.

He would be a great pick at 16..

I think this thread is a waste of time. Thomas vs. Berry vs. Wilson, it doesn't matter! We'll be taking DE at 16 :)

I also have issues with Thomas and his physical game but who knows. Berry seems like a more complete player.

And there are more. Before this, everyone projected him to run a 4.5.

Again- it doesn't matter. He's fast enough to play safety.

which is the only position he'll be playing, thanks to forum kiddies not being NFL coaches.

I just have to ask, did you graduate from any form of secondary education?
Did you take special classes for special needs?

You do realize that all those hack sites are quoting the same NFL Combine results, don't you?

BTW how long did it take you to find those sites? I can understand the scout site, they suck but they are pretty well known. The others had to be a real tough find for you.

Not that it matters, they were good enough to get his NFL combine numbers correct, however he did improve those scores in the Texas pro day. Scouts generally go by an average or the top scores.

Either way both will trump his combine runs.

Again, more than ever people are considering him a corner, well at lease those who don't come from the great state of Michigan.

I'm no Volunteer fan but it doesn't take a genius to know Berry is better then Thomas. If you wanna compare this years stats that stupid because Berry was asked to play closer to the line of scrimmage and help out more in the run game. When he was used to playing centerfield like Thomas did this year. Thomas isn't even close to the intimidating hitter berry is either.
