The Duke makes sense in about 1 out of 10 posts but here he is calling someone else clueless. Called another poster an idiot on the Tim Tebow wonderlic board.

    My gawd. :irked::irked:

Dunlap's character is a great concern to many of you guys because of a DUI. Didn't Steve Mcnair have one of those? With a loaded gun in the front seat to boot?

Dunlap is a 20 year old college kid. Mcnair was arrested when he was a 30 year old superstar player with a wife and 2 children.

    Um...

I think there is a better chance Mays falls into round 3 than Hughes but I just don't see it happening. I think there is a good chance both go late 1 but one or both could fall to early-mid 2. I doubt either is available in late 2...let alone 3rd rnd.

With McCluster running a best 4.47 at his Pro day, I think someone will take him mid-2 to early 3.

    Um...

Yeah, speed isn't everything. Jared Allen is also like 6'6, has a great motor, good balance, good hand usage, and has a knack for offbalancing an OT and bull rushing or ripping around him.

Freeney and Mathis are faster, quicker, and shorter. Dumervil is the one guy that's the enigma because he wasn't a blazing fast guy if I remember and he's actualy SHORTER than 6'. He appears tp have a very quick burst...again...10 yd split is the most important thing for a DE.

    Some perspective...

Dunlap's character is a concern first because he's simply lazy. When you watch tape of the guy, he rarely is going full bore. A guy taking a lot of plays off (while on the field) is a huge character flag because he's not giving you everything he has and likely won't change his attitude in learning to be better. Tebow, on the other hand, has great character. Not because he's a goody-two shoes...but because he has a passion for football and works his tail off in practice, preparing for opponent's and constantly trying to get better.

I forget which organization said this, but they said they want a guy with 2-3 priorities...God, family, football with the God part being optional. Point is, if football isn't that important to you and you just want to get drafted high to have your payday...I'm not interested in taking you in the first rnd...and maybe not in the draft.

Dunlap having a DWI only exacerbates the problem. The DWI isn't THE problem if you're following me.

McNair coming out of college was a hard worker and had a passion for the game. Even with a great character for football, if he had had THAT DWI BEFORE being drafted, he likely would not have been the #3 pick in the draft. But we're talking about picking a guy at #16 this year. I don't want Dunlap because he's not better than Morgan, Graham, Hughes...he just thinks he is...WHEN he goes all out...which isn't often. If you're a legend in your own mind...that's a problem.

From what I'm hearing...NO ONE thinks he's a 1st rnd pick almost certainly because of his laziness and lack of passion for football. The DWI just gives one more reason NOT to draft him.

Some team will be fascinated with Dunlap's potential and will take him in the 1st round IMO and to be honest it could be the Titans.

    Ugh!

I sure as heck hope it's NOT us!!! I would love it if a team ahead of us took him so one more valueable player would be available!

Gut we have heard the same thing about Dunlap many times over. I wanted to put some perspective on him.

As for effort he had 2 sacks in the Sugar Bowl so maybe he wanted to prove something. He plead guilty to the DWI charge and made no attempt to blame others.

He had almost a 3.0 grade point average at Florida as well so he must have showed up in class. People talk about this guy as if he was the top hitman for the bloods.

I said on another thread he had 3 blocked kicks in his career. Actually he had 4. He blocked three punts and in the biggest game of his career he blocked a FG against Oklahoma. He had 6 blocked passes this year so this is a guy who despite what you claim to be chronic laziness who does make plays.

He is not a player who had huge games against crap teams and disappeared against good teams. He had a sack in each of his games against Georgia the last 2 years and has played some of his best games against Florida State and Miami and played well in his 2 bowl games.

Dunlap has the most raw talent of any DE in this draft. The titans(Fisher-MR-Washburn) should talk to him and learn all they can about him and if they like his attitude and the way he answers questions in the interviews they should consider taking him at 16.

A couple of mocks have the Ravens taking Dunlap @ 25. Just what we need to see a freak like that playing for those A-holes.

We are supposed to have the best D-line coach in the business. Some people even think he can make Babin a decent player. Travis Laboy once said Washburn could take a rock and turn it into a diamond.

Maybe my vision is too romantic but a talent like that with a great coach like that?

Dunlap of course is not a reclamation project pushing 30. He is a kid who not even a month ago turned 21. He is not some kid from the projects his mother is an elementary school principal.

I like hughes but he is only 250 lbs and can't really grow any larger than that. Graham can't get any taller or grow his arms longer. But Dunlap has lot's of room to get better and stronger. His wingspan is 85 inches and he can make a difference in a big game with a batted pass or a blocked kick.

Who said Dunlap interviewed poorly? He answers all the questions well in the pro day interview. I like how he mentioned that both his parents were in the military.

Baby freak in a titan uniform?
