Thomas ran a 4.6 didn't he? Plus it's usually too difficult for any college safety to make the transition to pro CB. They're usually playing safety for a reason.

I agree. He was very impressive at the combine. He's got great size and he's been said to be a vocal leader and a Lance Briggs type LB. If he's on the board @ 16, I'd say we have to take him.

This would be a nice pick. We are projected to pick DE or DT in most mocks so for us to play along with that projection is the best thing to do. And come draft day when everyone's expecting a DE or DT, we take a DB. The same thing way it happened with Griffin a few years back.

If people fall in love with Berry, Haden, and Mays before we pick then Thomas just might fall to us at 16. If this happens, I just know Fisher and Co. will take him and I won't be mad at all with that pick.

If it comes down to Earl Thomas and Sean Weatherspoon both still on the board at 16, it's gonna be tough to pass on either one of them.

Yeah I like Thomas and Weatherspoon a lot. Weatherspoon would be a vocal guy who would be perfect for replacing Keith Bulluck(don't take that the wrong way). Thomas was a S in college but played CB and even said he is a CB by heart. Couldn't pass on Derrick Morgan though and he could fall now with Jacksonville not needing a DE.

    Well...

The REASON a lot of sites are doing that is because he had a lot of tackling issues in the Bowl game which is why teams are wondering if he can be a fulltime S who's gonna have to be the last line of defense in terms of tackling.

I think he does have excellent ball skills and he has very good technique. He has good speed for a CB (excellent for a S) and the quickness but a few things concern me. He makes most of his big plays going forward and in zone coverage. He's also had a heck of a pass rush to help him (as did Haden in Fla). Moving him to CB would mean coaching him up on man coverage technique - bump and off-man. He does make some plays going backwards (turning and running) but not nearly as much.

Point is, he's a good fit for the Titans since we play so much zone coverage and his instincts and balls skills are very good. Of course, if we are gonna go back to more man coverage on D, he might NOT be worth taking as a CB. Other point is, if he's gonna be a S, is he worth taking this year (yes though we arguably have greater needs at DE, OLB, and CB)? If he's gonna be a CB, is he better than Kyle Wilson (and why)???

He's still on the small side (height-wise) for a CB but more stout weighing in at 208 at the combine.

He might be...as might Kyle Wilson and a couple others if you want primarily a big man cover guy. If Haden doesn't run a 4.4 or better at his Pro Day, I could see him potentially fall out of round 1 with Thomas and Wilson perhaps moving ahead. Course, we have to see how they run.

    Um...

If we drop to 25, we SHOULD get a late 2nd in the deal. In this case who would you be looking to get in the late first and late 2nd?

While most people would think me crazy, I wouldn't be TOTALLY against Spiller in round 1 (mainly because Spiller is an awesome RB and returner and could give CJ a serous drop in carries so we can prolong him). I WOULD be against Bryant since we don't need him. We are a RUNNING team. We don't need multiple first round WR's. I don't think I'd take Mays because I don't think our coaching staff will use him correctly to make him a Pro Bowl S.

I'm not a big fan of Bowman but that'd be a solid pick though CB and DE are BIGGER needs.

Why take Arenas in the 4th (if he lasts that long)? He's too slow to play outside and he's a good returner but some of that will be negated by his mediocre speed. He's also a little sloppy catching the ball which is what got Mouton into trouble. Why draft another nickel CB when we need a STARTER?

Mike Williams should be long gone by rnd 5.

You don't address our #1 need until the end of the 3rd and 6-7th rnds?

If we are to continue to play our style of defense, they almost have to take a DE or CB in round 1 (unless it's an Eric Berry or Earl Thomas).

As much as I like Earl Thomas, I just don't think he's our guy. Everyone says we need DE, but we have Ford and Hayes, but then no depth.

I really want us to trade our 1st round, trade down in the draft and get more picks. This draft is SO deep in DL, but not so deep in CB.

I love Everson Griffen (DE USC), Kyle Wilson (CB BSU), Rennie Curran (LB UGA)

At LB - We have McRath covering Bulluck (if he doesn't resign)
    At DE - Haye Ford
    At CB - Finnegan & _______

Too me I see CB as our #1 need (since we're not getting a FA CB). DE #2. LB #3. AND A RETURN MAN!!!! (Jacoby Ford? Kyle Wilson? Cincy WR Ginyard(sp)?)

1st Subject to Availability :I'd go Mays, Wilson, Graham, Witherspoon, or Golden "replace Nate" Tate
2nd If no corner yet then Kareem Jackson or else BPA

Id be excited if we got Spiller for a whole lot of reasons; he essentially would be our Reggie Bush/Percy Harvin type player who spells CJ1.
I know we don't need Bryant and he's hard to justify but I would just hate to see us pass on another Randy Moss type impact WR if he's staring at us in the face at 16.
Mays; I just want to see him lay out Dallas Clark, Peyton Manning, and Reggie Wayne at least once a season and will give him the benefit of the doubt to adjust his game.

I was drafting Arenas for the return game and because I thought he could start eventually. If Harper comes back this year; we will be set by next year at CB with hopefully one of the younger guys developing into solid starters. Arenas becomes moot if we got CJ2 though.
Mike Williams I thought had a horrible combine which pushed his stock lower?

There is plenty of depth at DE; we can afford to take someone in the 3rd I think and have Washburn develop. All we need is one gem. I found this link kind of interesting on prospects, projected draft, strengths, weaknesses.

Seems to me we can wait on DE, I just hope we don't take that Pierre guy.
