There is a major undercurrent of the political economy promoting this issue. No doubt in my mind that our gov't, media, etc is loving the chance to "equal the playing field" by advancing this story in order to direct new sales to Ford and GM.

What about the "death wobble" on Dodge trucks that have killed so many folks? Don't hear anything about it right? That's because Chrysler doesn't acknowledge the problem and initiate a recall. That would be corporate suicide.

Toyota is an excellent car company. If there has been any decrease in quality, it began when manufacturing was moved to the U.S. I applaud Toyota for admitting there is a problem and making the necessary steps to address it. The quality of their product(s) will withstand this current political torrent.

I think it's just a story that a lot of people are interested in. A lot of people own Toyota's.
Not a conspiracy against Toyota. Toyota employes a lot of Americans. I can't see "the governement" or "the media" promoting propaganda with the purpose of selling more Detroit made cars. That just sounds like paranoia...

Probably so- but almost more than 10 times as many folks have been killed by Dodge's problem. The only difference in coverage is that one company elected to address the problem at a profit loss- that being Toyota. The story line should be that Toyota puts customer's lives above their profit margin rather than the way it is currently being portrayed.

Why do believe our government hasn't forced a recall on Dodge (Chrysler)?

problem with Toyoda is the gap between when he was aware of the problem and when Toyota addressed the problem. There were plenty of dead folks because Toyoda was worried about his honor instead of his customers lives.

I've had the misfortune of being able to rent a Dodge /Chrysler Magnum Whateverdahellitis, and I can say that thing was a clunky piece of crap. No wonder they flopped.

IMO Chryslers have some nicely styled cars, but they are still Chryslers.
