Car and Driver rated the new Fords as excellent, above comparable Toyotas. Ford took no bailout, started making good cars that people want, and they're doing OK.

blah, we did fine before them, and we would adjust again without them.

Dont act like they created jobs and were the backbone of America. without them Chevy ,Ford and Saturn would sell more cars and that would increase the jobs also. we simply don't need foreign cars in America. Americans need to stop rebelling against their own products. it's immature and foolish. American car company's have something for everyone. stop thinking your are to good to drive a American car.

owning a Nissan Pathfinder or a Toyota Corolla isnt cool anymore. the foreign buzz has ran it's course and thats why Ford is gaining momentum again. and Dont count Chevy out. they will be back.

It has nothing to do with the brand... Americans can't afford $20,000+ Cars, Trucks and SUVs.

I personally find it foolish that people go and buy $35,000 trucks that will lose 2/3 of their value in 3 years yet they work 2 jobs (if they are lucky) to afford that big truck payment.

I've never had a car payment. Don't want one. Don't need one. I drive an early millenium buick. Sure, it may not get me attention on the road, but I don't want attention. You know why? Police assume im some 80 year old great grandfather, so I don't get profiled or pulled over. Also, its reliable and good on gas. It had new tires, oil was changed, and a grandmother drove the car before I did and I know the car was taken care of.

I bought it for $2,000 cash, and it will last me 3-4 years before I sell it outright and probably get about $1,500 out of it.

So what makes more sense? Losing $500 and driving a vehicle for 3-4 years.. or paying $500 or month or more on a new vehicle that you primarily drive back and forth to work only to pay for your new vehicle.

I have nothing against new vehicles if you can afford it without selling your first born. If you have to take out a loan on it.. then you probably can't afford it and it's not brand loyalty thats driving customers away from carlots, its the fact that people are figuring out that its stupid to go in debt up to your butt on a depreciating asset.

as usual, Jesse talking from his hind parts. Absolute mindless blather.
Mark this down, other manufacturers will follow suit with this same recall in the near future.

Jesse isn't out of touch here. This is kind of funny because Toyota is suffering because they chose to outsource to American components to cut costs. LOL that's the funny part.

A few things left out of this:

Ford is also recalling trucks made in China because they use the same pedal on some of the larger trucks built in that country.

Toyota has known about this issue for several months before the recall. They denied it at first but now reports say that 19 people have dies because of this issue. Do not make them look like they were some hero realizing a mistake. They just cut there losses.

Ford has improved and so has chevy in the construction of there cars but that does not excuse how poorly they made there cars for years. Even when they were losing market share instead of making better cars they tried to use the "built american" bs to sell cars instead of producing a better product. You reep what you sew and US car makers are living in what they made.

You know there is a reason that Honda and Toyota did not try and do the 0% financing. To hold car value. Chevy and Ford bet that the buyer would buy a car every x number of years and accept the car would be worthless after those number of years. They lost. Now they realize americans want quality and value after the purchase and have made smarter moves to actually make what the population has been asking them for years.

Toyota is going to get screwed in this and the US auto makers better move on it quickly to reap the rewards. This is there chance through the use of fear to regain customers, loyalty and consumer confidence. They better hit it with a full head of steam or Honda will move in and dominate the market.

Honda already dominates the market. And this recall is the result of American labor. The U.S. company that supplied Toyota with the components (CTS Corp.) is saying the issue is with Japanese engineering. But the parts passed inspection and quality control, so I think the issue was created during the assembly process. This won't help Ford or anyone else, it hurts everyone because Ford buys parts from that same U.S. company. 2.3 million cars are recalled, and as far as I know they all had the same accelerators from CTS Corp.

One thing I do know for sure is that Asian culture takes pride in their work, whereas Americans don't give a crap. I'd look at the plant that physically built the cars before I looked at the Japanese executives or engineers that came up with the designs.

I completely agree with this. 5th graders in japan go to school till 7pm each day and learn calculus. Some even go year round and on Saturdays... Now who do you want making your cars again?

In addition to my Buick, I have a 1994 Lexus GS300 that I'm fixing up. Dam things got 212k miles on it doesn't leak, ping, or knock. Had it up to 135Mph on the highway and still had a little pedal. Luckily, it didn't stick!!!

There's a little gear called neutral if your pedal sticks.
