Those stats mean nothing at all. Who needs to throw for 200+ yards when you have CJ busting over 200? Peyton throws 300+ because he's a good pocket passer and their run game sucks. Be real dude, they don't call many pass plays. Completing 15 of 18 is good no matter who its compared too. Go be a Colts fan, you obviously aren't a Titans fan.

People like you are the reason that common sense has been pronounced dead.
WTF makes you believe that he's gone after this year, particularly if we start winning?
Common sense: If Vince keeps winning and showing improvement...we keep our previously labelled 'franchise QB'

Your mindset: get rid of a QB that is doing well after his return only to offload him in the off-season, and draft a new QB yet spend the next two years grooming him....this would also prevent us from drafting defense in the first round.

If Vince keeps doing well, there is no rational reason to let him go.
WTH goes through some of yall's minds when you make posts like above?

Did you give this statement even one little iota of thought before you posted it?
I swear that full moon last week robbed quite a few of you of your common sense.
    Sheesh.
    Lemme 'splain something to you.
Fisher does not own the team
Fisher does not write the checks.
So going on the premise of the previous two statements...
Fisher also ultimately does not make the decisions.
Did you forget that if it were indeed ultimately up to Fisher, Vince would still be pining? The coaches didn't want Vince playing, but Bud did. Guess who won that one?

    Ok?...what? :irked:

that's definitely not MY mindset. i think it's the coaching staff's. it's been clear since the get go fisher has never wanted the guy. who knows how heimerdinger feels about him, he did choose to come here and coach him, but who knows if he wants him as the starter.

one thing is clear, jeff fisher obviously prefers kerry collins, for whatever reason.
you know i like vince and want him to stay here, right? i've liked him since his UT days and he was easily my most coveted player in he 2006 draft.

i want him to play well and be the quarterback we drafted him to be.

    everything above is correct.

i have a hard time thinking that a head coach is going to be somewhere when he's forced to play a qb that he doesn't want.

let's assume that vince doesn't save fisher's job for the second time, which i think is pretty possible, especially with it looking like we wasted 6 weeks with collins. you're telling me that bud adams is going to find a head coach who wants vince to be his starter, regardless of his coaching ability?

if bud adams holds this franchise hostage because he can't lose his morning woody over VY, he needs to go ahead and hand the team over to his son.

hopefully vince plays well enough to get out of fisher's doghouse and this is all moot.

My bad. It sounded like your mindset; that's what I based my response on. Carry on!
However, I agree completely on it being the coaches mindset. However I think that mindset will be trumped by Bud in the end...PARTICULARLY if Vince is willing to renegotiate his contract. VY's willingness to do that will be the hingepin on whether or not he stays (provided he plays well enough for the FO to want to keep him in the first place).

If Vince continues to play decently then he will be our QB next year. The $14M cap hit is something that Bud seems to be willing to take if he likes what he sees in the next 8 games.

But the biggest question is not about money, it's about alternatives. Kerry played really well last year, but in 3 seasons he's had 2 awful starts that prompted the owner to yank him. If you think VY will be cut because of money, then there is no way Collins stays for the same reason. There is not going to be a FA QB or draft pick that will win the confidence of the front office over a decently-playing VY. Vince might not stick for a long time, but it's his job to lose for next year at this point.

For all you folks talking about Vince's 14 million dollar cap hit next year...........you do know he said he was ready to re-negotiate his contract to get that number down right?

It's simple, the Titans can't trade VY. His current contract is ridiculously large and NO ONE would take it...even if we gave him away for free. I don't suspect we'd even keep him with his current contract so he'll have to renegotiate to stay. If he renegotiates, it will include a nice signing bonus which we aren't going to eat just to then trade him. And if you lower his signing bonus and raise his salary, teams won't want to trade for him.

He won't be traded. If they want to keep him, the only question is will VY rip up his current deal and accept a 'reasonable' contract.

Well said Gut. IMO I believe that is exactly whats going on in Vince's head right now. He knows all to well that his stock is pretty much garbage right now but I believe he is being smart about it. Might be why he said he would re-negotiate so early in the season, just to get that mokey off his back and to let the Titans know he would like to stay here. I wonder how much of his decision processes is determined by his relationship with the late Steve McNair as far as wanting to stay in Tennessee goes?
