This game was just like the week 2 game vs the texans CJ run all over the place and our defense was bad.The difference was vince young keeping drives alive with his legs,kC would just throw the ball away.

VY has that IT factor something that kerry does not thats something thats not in the stats .

you can't really judge his performance by his passing yards IMO. with our run game going like it was then your not going to have many passing yards. he only threw the ball 18 times. one thing i was impressed with was no interceptions. also when there were no receivers open he kept the play alive by running a few yards where kerry would have just thrown it away. vince did a great job.

That was one of the points I really wanted to post :D. It's not all about passing yards and TDs. It's also about keeping drives alive.

Besides, I wouldn't expect a too huge number of yards from a qb who didn't have to pass in the 4th quarter.

Wow. Now that's overstating it. Vince had 12 rushing plays, two of which were kneel downs at the end of the game. Even not counting those, he had 4 other rushing plays that resulted in a one yard gain, no gain, or a loss. He didn't "make it happen" on 27/30 plays. Even if you accept that ANY completed pass is a good thing (we had a pass to Scaife for negative yardage), and accept any rushing play of 2 or more yards as good (including a 4 yard rush on 3rd and 6), then he "made it happen" on 21/28 plays. If you look at down and distance and the result of completed passes, it's less.

I'm not trying to say anything negative about Young's play. Young deserves credit for playing a solid game with what he was asked to do. The coaches deserve credit for giving him the right amount of work to do. Let's not call him MVP though. We won on CJ's big day, combined with Finnegan and Fuller coming back playing lights out.

I'm very glad to see Young come back and play well. However, no one should be thinking that this game answers any of the questions that most people have about him. We'll see how it plays out down the stretch.

It still baffles me that people continue to thrash VY. Is he the messiah? No. Will he ever have a Sunday when he channels the ghost of Johnny Unitas? No. Will he ever be mistaken for Joe Montana in the superbowl? No.

But the bottom line is, he helped a stagnate offense score, which in turn rests a veteran defense, allowing them to give a full rested effort when taking the field. It was a solid team effort that lead to a win. Period.

As for the statement in bold, yes....you are. Your whole post summarizes your critique of him. You just tried to sugarcoat it with your 'minimalist' compliment statements (if you even want to call them compliments).
This game answers quite a few questions about him. He showed poise and confidence. He also showed a bit of maturity...something he is going to need in order to be successful.
Sure, we will probably want to see him play a few more games to assess if he's the long term solution, but to say this didn't answer any questions about him...is asinine.

TJ, asking someone if they are stupid isn't insulting them. Calling them stupid is. Learn the difference please.

Your more in depth look at his 21/28 stat still beats anything your boy Collins could ever do. Vince didn't have a spectacular day, but even on his dimmest of days, he outshines Kerry Collins brightest.

You, along with everyone else that says Vince barely contributed to the win are missing a few very important points.

    1) Defenses get tired much faster than offenses, so keeping your offense on the field as long as possible is absolutely huge, especially in Fisherball. Sure, the defense did well in getting the Jags off the field, but they were generally well rested for each drive they had to play. The Titans rarely went 3 and out and had something like 16 first downs in the first half. That's a big help for everyone.

    2) When KC is under pressure, his first reaction is usually playing catch with Jeff Fisher on the sideline. When VY is under pressure, he tucks it and runs. He got a big first down a few times, but even the other times where he got 1-4 yards he kept the clock running. That gives the defense more rest and gives the opposition less time with the football.

Most people here are happy to see the Titans do well regardless of who our QB is, so talking trash is counterproductive at best. Collins sucks, VY is not good, but he did play well, and if he keeps it up, I will be happy because he's on the Titans. I will never be a fan of VY homers though.

I understand you're point but you are slightly exagerating of 27 out of 30 plays. The 0 yard completions/runs or the -5 yard run I don't really cound as positive... But he was still probably doing well ~22-24 of the plays.

Edit: Say the earlier post on this and the responses. No one is harping on Young playing bad, we are just saying to stop the hype train of 27 out of 30 positive plays and thus Young was completely perfect yada yada yada. He played a very good successful game, but that doesn't mean that you need to exaggerate or use incorrect data to make your point. Or to attack anyone who wants to take a more measured view of the performance/data as a "hater."
