I hate it when people trade out of the first round. If I'm going to sit thru hours of crap on draft day, I at least want to see a big name or two. Besides, it's pretty hard to trade out of the #1 pick. Nobody wants to give up the farm for a top pick, unless you're Mike Ditka.

And I would not be happy with anyone but a QB unless we move out of the top 5. The franchise is going to need a shot in the arm after this year, and drafting defense won't get too many people excited. And it does matter to these higher-ups. It's all about the almighty dollar.

I say go for broke and get a QB. He may bust, but it gives you a reason to watch, when there is absolutely no motivation this year.

is this class really that talented?

there's tebow, who's hardly a college quarterback. mccoy, who comes from the exact same offense has VY. bradford, who appears to be pretty injury prone and plays in another gimmick offense. jake locker has never completed more than 57% of his passes.

and they all come from the spread offense, which makes it even harder to evaluate them.

as of right now, i'd say my guy is dan lefevour. too bad he won't be worth a top five pick and we don't have a second rounder to grab him with :(

Bradford could've very well been the first overall pick last year. Now, he's being considered by most as the 3rd best QB. Clausen, Locker, Bradford, McCoy, Snead, Tebow, Mallett, Pike. Sounds like a talented group. Then again, I'm just a fan.

The longer you delay holding off on a QB the longer your holding the team back.

Exactly. You have to pay a top 10 pick a lot, regardless. Especially in the top 2 or 3 where we'll likely be. You don't avoid a player because of cost, if they have the potential to turn everything around. #1 picks are expensive, whether you take a DT or a QB.

I agree, but there's honestly not many QBs I'd want on our team from this class. Especially if Berry and Suh are still on the board. Any guy we draft will likely be another project too. Look at how the rookie QBs are doing this year so far- Ryan and Flacco are exceptions, not the norm.

I'd prefer to get a FA or trade for someone like Kolb if VY doesn't play well when Fisher finally decides to put him in. That way we don't have to play the QB lottery in the draft. Statistically speaking, odds are that we'd end up with a bust, or average player at best.

Were not taking Berry so can we drop it? Safety is one position we really don't need. On defense we need defensive ends and linebackers and corners, not safety. If you don't like the QBs fine but there's an Eric Berry in every draft, I for one like Clausen and if he comes out needs to be on this team.

As for trading, why would the Eagles trade their QB of the future? Makes no sense and there are no free agents worth mentioning. Again trying to avoid drafting a QB because your scared to do it only hurts yourself.

Berry could step in for Harper and be a pro-bowl CB. I'd still draft him to pay S. You don't pass on a Ed Reed quality S and worry about Hope having a spot. We could also move Griffin over to Harper's spot as another possibility. Berry wold be a stud the defense could build around and we really don't have that now.

As for drafting a QB we need to make sure there is someone worthy of the pick. Of the ten studs every one thinks we should take there may be one or two decent QBs. I don't see a QB who is one of those can't miss guys. What I see are a bunch of guys with big question marks. I remember when we drafted Young. People were talking about how the QB class that year might be one of the best in NFl history. Well one decent QB came out of that and unfortunately we didn't draft him.

If your looking to draft a QB with no question marks then you'll never draft one. You can pass up on safetys but not a QB. Besides every year there's a can't miss Ed Reed type safety and they don't always pan out either (Michael Huff, Laron Landry, Donte Whitner).

I still contend most of you want Berry based on the fact he played for Tennessee, if he went to Washington you wouldn't want him as badly. I saw the same thing with Robert Meachem and I said he wasn't going to be worth a first round pick and he's not.

I agree with most of what you've said, except about Berry. He's a special talent, one of those rare Sean Taylor types. I still think we take a QB though.
