As long as Al Davis is around the Titans will have one less team in the AFC to worry about.

This kinda reminds me of why there are rules in fantasy football about guys you can't cut and why trades have to be approved. One team can dump their good guys to someone giving them an unfair advantage.

In all honesty I'm not worried about the Raiders but I am concerned about beating the Pats. After all they are one of the three or so teams standing in our way to the SB and if they get Eric Berry because of this I'll really be ticked.

Agreed. It's a 2011 1st rounder though and Berry's supposed to come on in the 2010 draft so no worries about that. Still though I don't see Seymour being worthy of a 1st rounder.

Actually the more I'm reading of this trade the more is actually DOES make sense to me. Lets look at some facts:

    - It's a winnable division. The Broncos got worse, the Chiefs got a little better but still wont be that good. And the Chargers may not have Merriman for the year. Why not try to win the division? Will they? Probably not but I don't blame them for trying.

    - Top 10 first round picks year in and year out get expensive especially when their unproven. Yes the Raiders have made some bad picks but Robert Gallery and Michael Huff were good picks at the time, they just haven't panned out, hard to predict stuff like that. I remember Gallery at Iowa, I thought he was another Orlando Pace but he wasn't. So now they got rid of a first round pick (in 2 years not 1) so it will save some money.

    - They have been bad for so long they have to at least show the fans that their trying to win otherwise people will stop coming to the games. I mean Oakland isn't the most profitable city in America. Like I said if Oakland can manage 9 wins which isn't impossible they could win that division.

    - He DOES make the team better. Their run defense was bad now it will get better. You add Seymour and Ellis to that defense and get rid of the under achieving Derrick Burgess, I think their defense gets a bit better.

Is this a good long term move? No. Will it help in the short term? Yes. Will they make the playoffs? I don't know. Does this team need to make or compete for the playoffs? Yes. Does this help them do that? Yes.

i guess its not that bad of a trade as long as they feel good about dmac, bey, and russel panning out, but i guess its too early to tell

No way Oakland is beating San Diego out for the division. That is absurd. No, it's not a good long term move because they're just giving draft picks to the Pats. And it won't help them at all this year because the rest of the team sucks, they won't make the playoffs, regardless of who's playing DT.

Al Davis runs his team the way I run my Madden Franchise.

You seem like a hater who's just paining the team with a broad brush and doesn't really know exactly what he's talking about.

You have any practical retort to my statement or you just gonna pick an argument with me and not even support it with an opposing viewpoint?

The Raiders are essentially feeding the Patriots a draft pick in a bonehead fashion. They need help all over the defense, safeties, linebackers, CB depth behind Nnamdi Asomugah and help on the line. They need to focus on picking up young, solid talent in the draft as opposed to spending major resources on one big name player who's not going to make much of a difference surrounded by dookie. They're not in a position where a single, big name player is going to push them over the edge. They're in a position where they need to rebuild from the ground up. Didn't they try the same thing with Warren Sapp?

The Raiders need major help on both sides of the ball. Dealing out 1st round picks, especially to the best team in the league, is going to wind up putting them in a deeper hole then they're already in. They're not competing for any division, like that other guy suggested. They're just trying to put together a winning season for the first time since they lost the SB. That a better analysis of the situation for you, buddy?
