We had very good seasons in 02 and 03 in which Mason put up good numbers. Saying a great receiver doesn't help this team is not only wrong (why wouldn't a great receiver help any offense) but history has shown it has.

We couldn't trade for Boldin so we drafted Britt, obviously the team disagrees with you.

Good for Mason, in the three 13 win seasons our leading WR was actually a Tight End, not getting any where near 1000.

    Having a 1000 Mason season has given us wins of: 7(2001), 11* (2002), 12* (2003), 5 (2004 - Bennett also 1000 season)

    Having a non 1000 Mason season has given us wins of: 13* (1999), 13* (2000), 4 (2005),8 (2006), 10* (2007), 13* (2008)

Pretty certain Mason didn't make much of a difference. Three of our best seasons ever came from a team without a #1 WR and we've been to the playoffs 4 times since 1999 without one while just missing out in 2006.

There is no proof whatsoever we tried to trade for Boldin.

then you agree your post made absolutely no sense..

you JUST said we haven't had a big time receiver, hence why we don't have an offense to utilize one properly..

Dude, we run first, run second and maybe pass third. It's a conservative offense, it's how Fisher works.

The team acknowledged a need at WR and as a result signed washington and drafted britt and drafted a top receiving TE prospect in cook. The debate is over for any top guy.

I don't want to give up a 1st rd pick plus and $10M in cap space. If we can find some medium prived depth that is better than what we have sure give it a try but we are not taking the risk to get a guy like boldin.

As for marshall there is no way in hell we bring that problem guy in here. That would be nuts.

FYI trading our 1st and third for a WR means no picks in the first 3 rds for us.

Gunny is right, we won't go after Boldin but Rolltide hit the nail on the head. The FO and coaching staff HAVE figured out that we need more offensive fire power and have actually moved away from the Woody Hayes mentality starting with drafting CJ. We were 13-3 without a super star WR but we also lost in the first round. It is obvious that the team has gone out of their way to upgrade the group and Boldin might help the team in the short run but he simply isn't worth the pay and draft choices we wold have to use to get him. We have a vastly improved receiving core right now and there is no reason to bring in Boldin for that reason.

no need for Boldin. Out of gage, nate, britt, hawkins and edison one of them is bound to be a big star.

It's not about stardom, we aren't going to have a guy who will put up yards around the 1200 - 1300 marks. We just need consistency from the position.

Your point makes no sense. We had seasons of 11 and 12 with Mason being good and season winnings of 13 without Mason being good. OK so one or two wins, nothing to really brag about. How about asking the question how good could we have been if Mason had had great seasons in 99 and 2000?

As for Boldin we inquired about him so there was something there. And even so, we drafted Britt to hopefully be a great receiver no? So there goes your theory, the team feels we need a great receiver.

    11 and 12 vs 13 x 3 I know which I'd take.

And my theory is constantly proven every single Jeff Fisher year. Stick your head in the sand if you want, I'm done with the topic.
