One of the last things we need to worry about is CJ.

In Jesse's defense, the vast majority of his recent posts have been legit, thoughtful, and more or less well stated. I'm actually enjoying reading some of what he has to say these days...Hopefully he keeps away from intentionally trying to piss everyone off.

As for CJ, It's not him I'm worried about. It's his ego. He's clearly under the impression that he is a superstar and isn't one of those modest players that everyone loves, he's one of those c0cky players that you always worry about a little. A la OchoCinco, TO, etc. If it doesn't effect his work ethic and he still balls then I could give an excrement less what he says off the field. But if he thinks it's going to come easy and loses his production, then we have some issues. The jury is absolutely still out.

CJ will still be awesome once the offense knocks the rust off and gets back to normal.

We just have a team that cannot get motivated in preseason or meaningless games.
We are the best in live action that counts. When we play the Steelers you will see a worlds difference in our team. CJ will get a ton of carries and if it's still not working by half time and we have our backs to the wall, you can bet we will come out throwing the ball down field just like we did last year vs the Bears. We wont go down without a fight. We will make the Run game or the Pass game work.

CJ will be fine once we start gameplanning. And how did you talking about CJ have anything to do with Vince going back to school? CJ went back to his home for training. And theres video to prove it. What are you saying?

I think the real issue is our interior OL.

    In the run game...
Harris...as one would expect, has been inconsistent. But my real issue has been Amano. He struggles to sustain blocks and that's IF he gets himself into position to make a block. In nearly every pre-season game there has been one or more plays in which he's blocked NO ONE. That is unacceptable. It's one thing to get beat physically or the guy is just better than you...but not at least getting on someone for a veteran will seriously damage our run game.

I think Mawae is nearing the end of his run but he always know WHO he's supposed to block and tries hard to block him. Not sure if Amano has just been confused (as in lining up against a 3-4 in Dallas after not having faced one in awhile) or a talent issue or what...but...

An inconsistent C and RG and you got problems! When they all get on someone...we get a nice run or better. With Lendale, that usually means 4-12 yds. With CJ, that means 7-75yds. CJ is not a MAKE a hole kind of runner so we need the OL to shape up quickly if we want him to have similar success.

And while we gave Collins some new weapons to play with, we need to be a run first team to keep the pressure off him.

    Pass blocking...
And not to go un-noticed, but Scott was getting manhandled in the passing game one on one (being driven back into the QB) a few times in Dallas. He needs to be a bit more solid to let Collins step into his throws. Amano is actually better in pass blocking than run blocking. But when our OG's are asked to go one on one with a DT, they can't end up backed into Collins' lunch!

Consider that against the Steelers, our OG's are gonna have to not only single block DT size DL (whether ends or DT's) but also have their heads on a swivel to find those blitzing LB's and Polamalu. If we can't run against them, Collins could be in for a long evening.

    Gut

PS - CJ's ego and mouth are not what a coach wants...BUT...his explosiveness and playmaking certainly is. He has also shown he CAN make a hard catch and take out a much larger blitzer. This translates to...on the field, he IS every coaches dream.
