I'm the iconoclast. Popular belief is a thinker's worst nightmare. :)
But when something is simple- you judge it as it is. If a movie's only point is to entertain, why judge it on higher expectations?

Transformers wont make you think about life. But it will look cool. No doubts.

Oh yeah, you're a regular friggin' visionary. Is there such thing as a iconoclastic stereotype? The popularity of these movies is a prime example of Idiocracy moving forward.

Because it does not make you think and it relates to the main buying populations childhood. Most guys 25-35 grew up with Transformers. It appeals to the 10-15 year olds because it has action and robots, 16-25 for the cars and Megan Fox. Face it you are living in a society were that type of stuff sells. The majority of people do not want to hunt for a deeper meaning or listen to eloquent speech. They want to see hot women, fast cars and stuff blow up. Sprinkle in some heroes and robots and the movie will sell like hot cakes.

Man I'm not even on about deeper meaning or eloquent speech.. Just give us movies that tell an interesting story rather than a music video with no music.
Troma tells better stories than Hollywood these days..

I know. The only way I heard of the movie was through a movie pirating site.

    The Soloist?

That was advertised pretty heavy for a few weeks then just seemed to fade. I wanted to see it but I guess it is a renter now. I chose Star Trek instead on my recent movie night :moon2:

Movies like this allow me to click the off button inside my head for a couple of hours... there are times that I badly need that. I'm not sitting there criticing the realities of the movie just watching it go and enjoying the hell out of it. I would say there is a large portion of the viewers who agree with me. Doesn't mean I don't watch other types of film as well... and I enjoy those two. These types, however, also bring in the idiots. They just aren't smart enough to understand anything more complex. And there are a LOT OF IDIOTS out there. Add what Kian was saying about kids and explosions and YOUR TALKING SERIOUS MONEY! That's why they bring in the money while beautiful/artistic/great movies only bring in a little. Only "great" movie lovers go out of their way to see "great" movies.

Arrow, to bad you live in Cali this ones showing at the drive in down the road. Not many of those left in the US. I would have let you sit in the passengers seat instead of the back. :moon2:

I don't think that adding a little bit of a story, interesting dialog and some decent acting would keep these movies from being of interest to folks who only wanna see explosions.. It sure hasn't hurt the current Batman franchise.
