I'm still not drinking the Nicks Kool-Aid. Jeff just posted his numbers. They were decent, but not spectacular. Plus he played in the ACC. He's not a 1st rounder IMO. Sorry

I dont think you can look at one player in the past and just assume this guy is the next. Mike Williams was a rare case.

And Mike Williams was 6'5. He didn't exactly have to EARN all his catches. He also played with a great QB. Nicks' highlights make Mike's look jr varsity. How he does everything well. All Williams did was lumber down field and put his arms up to catch.

I really don't understand the Mike Williams comparisons. Yeah he gained weight after the combine, probably partially due to the fact that he tweaked his hamstring while he was there, but he lost all of the extra weight and got back down to 212 before his private workouts with teams.

I hadn't read he injured a hamstring anywhere but PFT which isn't the most reliable source out there.

I'm a big guy and would have a hard time packing on 14 pounds in a month.

Either way, he still lost the weight shortly afterward and is back to his normal weight. I still don't understand the Mike Williams comparisons.

"Nicks suffered an injury at the combine and his inability to workout between the combine and his Pro Day caused some issues. He gained a lot of weight during that time and now many have questioned his commitment. Even before he pulled his hamstring at the combine, Nicks did not answer any of the speed concerns and ran a 4.51 40-yard dash." -- fftoolbox

"As one scout who attended the session opined: “He looked like a fat tight end not a lean receiver. . . . He’s got to have a weight problem. This is the most important few months of his life and he gains a ton of weight. I don’t get it. Many scouts and coaches went away very disappointed.” -- PFT

"Pro Day wrap, Player hurt their stock: Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina: A hamstring injury suffered at the combine kept Nicks from working out for much of the time between his time in Indianapolis and his Pro Day, but scouts were nonetheless surprised by how out of shape he appeared at the North Carolina workout. Nicks had gained 14 pounds in less than a month, raising questions about his commitment." -- Rob Rang, The SportsXchange, NFLDraftScout.com

Just because he lost most of 14-16 pounds he gained in just three weeks doesn't mean he, like Mike Williams, might not have a weight-gain issue. That's close to 5 lbs a week. Even if he laid on the couch solid for those three weeks, he would have had to pound beers and Oreos to put that much on that fast. So, yeah, if some scouts feel there is reason for concern, that compares to some of the things we saw from Williams in his short NFL career.

I think he's no higher than second-round talent before this. Now, he may be third.

So since he gained weight in the month after his injury he automatically has weight problems? Has he had weight problems at any point in his past? Since he lost all of the weight back in less than a month after is pro day, you could say he his a hard worker for losing 14 pounds in such a small time.

I think he's closer to Anquan Boldin than he is Mike Williams.
