When he is focused, I dont disagree (though Manny is a better hitter IMO). But he loses focus and gets rattled easily. There is going to be much more negative attention on A-Rod this year than ever before. I just see him losing focus quite often and having a down year. Obviously, we will have to wait and see.

I think he'll stay focused because he is so vain. He's out to prove to everyone that he doesn't need roids and he's past them. That will keep him focused IMO. He was/is on track to be the best player to ever play the game (statistically), and I don't see him getting de-railed by something he did 6 years ago.

His contract kept him focused in '07 and this will keep him focused in '09.

Big, big numbers from A-Rod and Tex this year. The pitching staff, not so much.

I clearly said he is clutch in the regular season. Last year not so much but in most previous years (especially odd numbered years) he is clutch in the regular season. You don't win MVPs by not being clutch at all. Lets get real.

Again, he hit 19 home runs and 56 RBIs after the big story about his divorce last year so your theory about him not playing well under pressure from the media doesn't hold true. He's shown he can ignore all the stuff from the media.

Add Tim Lincecum to the list of aces who didn't play too well on the opening day.

The roids thing is another issue. One, I have little doubt that he has used roids since the time frame he actually admitted too, and I believe there was at least circumstantial evidence that indicated so. I dont think he was completely honest with coming clean about roids. So, if that is true (which is just speculation), then you would have to think his #s over the last several years were inflated. I think last years #s are more the type you are going to get from him (which is still extremely good), but I think you have to lower that a bit this year because of no spring training, fewer games, and a lot more distraction.

Putting up big stats and being clutch arent necessarily the same thing. I would take a guy like Manny, over A-Rod any day of the week in a late ball game where my team needed a big hit. Second off, you cannot possibly tell me a guy is clutch for the Yankees if he doesnt do anything in post season. It's not that hard to put up big #s against the Orioles in July, it is against Boston in October. Until he can do that, then dont tell me he is clutch. Again, great stats doesnt necessarily equate to be a clutch player.

I'll say it one more time. In the regular season he is clutch. What don't you get about that? Again last year not so much but normally yea he is clutch in the regular season. Why would he have won MVP awards if he wasn't clutch? Answer me that.

And I only bring up his great stats because you said he wont produce because he's in the spotlight of the media, yet last year during his divorce when he was in the spotlight of the media he put up great numbers, disproving your theory.

What dont you get about being clutch for the Yankees equates to having big Octobers? And again, big stats and being clutch arent necessarily one in the same. Do you think Peyton Manning is a clutch QB? By your criteria, you would have to say yes because he consistently puts up big #s and has big regular seasons. But in the post season, he has been average at best (other than the SB year obviously).

I said I think he will have a down year and even said 25 HRs and over 80 RBIs. That is still production, that just isnt typical A-Rod production. You are acting as if I said he was going to be god awful, which I clearly did not.

He is normally a clutch player in the regular season.

Until you get past that I'm done with you.
